Patch version 1.3.0 (w/ all expansions)



I was playing the Forgotten.

I purchased the Commercial Espionage tech.

My watchtowers were still reporting only a vision range of 3 (not 7 listed on the remotoscope factory).

I ended the turn hoping that this would rectify next turn to no avail.

I manually destroyed the watchtowers in the cities and rebuilt them and they were properly built as remotoscope factories this time.



I did not test this on other races, but I recall that this previously worked. Perhaps this is limited to the new Forgotten race due to the way they purchase tech.

In any case, I wanted to report this issue just in case.

My recollection is that the tower upgrades have been inconsistent forever--I seem to remember occasionally noticing towers that had failed to upgrade back when I was first playing over a year ago. Also, I don't have the expansions. So I don't think this is new, and I don't think it's related to the Forgotten.

I just played a game with Drakken and the same thing happened so yes this is not race specific.



In my game the thing I noticed was that any regions where I had built all watchtower plots would not upgrade. My lone region where I only built 3/4 towers all upgraded successfully. This is just a sample size of one game though so I'm not sure if that's particularly relevant or not, but it does show that some regions do upgrade.

I'll increase our sample size to two. I've just observed the same behavior, it's upgraded only when not all towers are built in the region.

My sample size has increased by several games now as well. In all the games I intentionally leave one or more towers unbuilt and they upgrade just fine. Sometimes I mistakenly build all or I take over a city that had them all built where they won't upgrade automatically.

hmmm, yes, just happened to me, and you're right, the regions that don't have all their towers yet upgraded ok, but the one that did have all of its towers is stuck at first level towers. saving and loading doesn't fix it either.



you can go into browse and destroy the unupgraded ones though, and build them over again. I was hoping doing it to one would reset all of them, but nope I have to rebuild all of them in that region. it's not too bad, since it could just as easily have been that towers needed to be manually upgraded anyway.



I guess knowing that it's the regions with all their towers that are affected, you could destroy a single tower from each region before the tech finishes, then you'd only have to rebuild one tower per region.



I suppose this would also be a reason not to build a tower unless you need to. usually I build every tower whether I have sight there or not, but now leaving one unbuilt will avoid this problem.
