Bought game on steam - bug still not fixed. Not very usable without being able to save a game... wrote a quick review on steam that people should not buy this game (pre-alpha version).

Well I encountered this problem today, in my first game.

I can see this problem has been here for three months with no solution apparently.

This is a game breaking bug guys donc cela serait bien que de se bouger le popotin sur le sujet ...

Hey, sorry to resurrect such an old thread, but I am having this exact issue:

ZipException: Cannot find central directory

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ICSharpCode.SharpZipLib.Zip.ZipFile.ReadEntries ()

ICSharpCode.SharpZipLib.Zip.ZipFile..ctor (System.IO.FileStream file)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

V1.0.24 S3 (32-bit)

My specs:

Machine: MacBook Pro

OS: OS X 10.10.1

Processor: 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7

Memory: 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Graphics: Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB

Steps to reproduce:

1. Start a new game or load a saved game

2. Manually save

3. End turn

Expected behavior:

Turn ends. Previously saved game still listed. Manually saving a new file or overwriting an existing file works.

Observed behavior:

Error (error message above) appears. Previously saved game no longer appears in list of saved games. Saving a new save file or overwriting an existing file does not work (clicking the save button does not seem to have any effect). Restarting the game and saving another save file with the same name will ask to overwrite an existing save file, even though the save file is not listed.

This happens consistently. I have also just installed the game, and this has happened since I first tried to ever save a game.

It has been 3 months since this issue was first reported. Are there any updates on the state of this issue? Asking around and searching around the internet seems to indicate this is not an uncommon issue on machines running OS X. I just got this game and was really excited to play it (it looks great so far), but I am pretty disappointed that I'm not able to reliably save my progress in games. smiley: frown

I'll need to check that.

My problem started with that error dialog popping up at every end of turn. Annoying, but i kept on playing. When I finally decided to save, it wouldn't. Clicking the save button did nothing att all, and the dialog remained open.

After reading up on the forums, i found those 0 byte save files in ~/Library/Application Support/Endless Legend/Save Files. My last manual save and all auto saves were corrupt and I deleted them all. Now the auto saves started to work again. After restarting the application I was also able to save manually again.

Theory; I chose to save twice in a single round, replacing the previous file using the default name. No error, but perhaps that was when the first file got corrupt.

Hope it helps!

It seems like saving the predetermined save instead of renaming it works fine. i haven't had a crash since. (To be verified)

I posted about this particular issue earlier, but failed to include the required info, so here it is now. My apologies for the duplicate post.

Issue: After some time playing, game fails to save; previously saved games do not appear in "load game" list (although when in subsequent games a previously used name is used for a save game, the "sure you want to replace" dialogue is displayed, even thought the game does not 'see' this file). The following error message displays in the game, no further save are possible, but gameplay is not disrupted:

ZipException: Cannot find central directory

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ICSharpCode.SharpZipLib.Zip.ZipFile.ReadEntries ()

ICSharpCode.SharpZipLib.Zip.ZipFile..ctor (System.IO.FileStream file)

I found that a partial, though not entirely satisfactory and possibly risky workaround is not to save my game manually at all until the end of my playing session—the autosave feature works fine, and so far I have always been able to save manually at the end (I also, just in case, back up my custom save file before resuming a game). It seems to me that the above glitch happens after a relatively high number of manual saves; of course it would be nice, to say the least, for us to be able to save as often as and whenever we choose, and I really hope they'll fix this problem.

I have exactly the same problem.

I am now stalled at turn 112, impossible to save any more.

End of the game... Too bad, because it is an enjoyable one.

Soooo... any other ideas? This is rather impacting my enjoyment of what is, otherwise, a smashing game.

Ok, the result is in... sadly, creating the anti-virus exception for Endless Legend did not resolve the issue. I got the exact same error message again, and the save file I used suddenly contains zero KB. smiley: frown

Thanks for the quick response! By this I assume you mean creating an exception for the Endless Legend app at:

/SteamApps/common/Endless Legend/EndlessLegend.app/, correct?

I'll try that for now and let you know if it helps.

Additionally, after looking at the saved games folder, I noticed that the saves the game no longer recognizes are suddenly empty, i.e. the have a file size of zero KB. Very odd.

Hello,

Thanks for the report.

Regarding the error message it seems there is an issue with the save system indeed.

Please could you try to turn off your anti-virus (or create an exception for Endless Legend), and tell us if the error message appears again?

Thanks again,
