How long should we wait for an acknowledgement of a new post?

And is it different in the Mac forums vs. the 'regular' forums?

12 hours is not bad at all! ;-)

Bug reports specifically... and any kind of acknowledgement that includes either a statement of purpose (will be brought to the attention of Amplitude coders or product managers, is not a bug and will be ignored, something else...) or a request for more information. :-)

Oh, and I have two posted six days ago that have not yet been acknowledged - thus my query.

Ah, yes. I've followed that to the letter - I was just hoping that there would be at least acknowledgement of the filed bug - and was hoping that there would be some knowledge of how long that might take. I was not expecting an all-volunteer effort when it came to bug reports. Anyway, thanks SpaceVC. Maybe you could send a note along to whoever has volunteered for the Mac forum? Or is that you?

That would be good, devs know that, and they acknowledge some, but it's actually quite time consuming. As Caotico09 said, it seems random (and I think it is lol). They are only two community managers (Steph'nie and Saylawl) who are interacting with the community full time, and as far as the devs are concerned, some like to make comments on the forum more than others.

What I know is that each bug (they may be multiple reports of the same bug) is entered in a bug database, numbered, ranked by type of issue, described in plain english, given a priority level, and a status evolving when it's resolved. I suppose (but I don't know the actual process) they treat the list "Important - easy to solve" first, "not so important - tough" last, as it's done in every business. It would probably be difficult to give an estimated time of solving.

No, the moderators don't have a role here. Gamers report the bug as you did, it goes to the tech support part of the forum, it's going to be picked up eventually for solving. I think the process is actually quite efficient.

Mac

The devs are originally developing for PC. Again, I'm no expert here, but I think the Mac part is mostly outsourced to Mac specialists, which probably makes the bug solving process a bit more cumbersome. But that's just an educated guess.

{grin} I meant how long it might take to have an acknowledgement posted...

Even just a "received" would help. ;-)

And as for "Mac" bugs - no way (generally) for the user to know if it is Mac-specific (I suspect that the ones I've posted are not) so it would go in the Mac sub-forum if they are running on a Mac, no? :-) Anyway - another good reason to post a 'received!' :-O

Thanks again!

Damn, I hope not. That'd be vastly disappointing.
