Hi,

my computer's spec:

- HW: early 2015 Macbook Pro 13", 2,7Ghz i5 CPU, 8Gb RAM - So i guess it's a 64 bit system..

- OS: El Capitane 10.11.2

- EL: v1.3.5 S3 (32bit)

Here are my question/problems experienced with the Mac version of Endless Legend:

  • My EL is installed through Steam and it's a 32bit version. Can i install 64bit?
  • Game in window mode doesn't fit the screen, if i set fullscreen mode i cannot switch from the game to another application. Is there a workaround for this?
  • Because of the previously mentioned issue, i have to use the game's video setting to switch between fullscreen and windowed mode, besides that it is weird and inconvenient, after a while i cannot validate the changes in game, because game messes up the cursor positions (mouse is over the validation ok 'button', but the game thinks its somewhere else).
  • Running this game for more than 5 minutes the CPU gets hot. CPU core temperature is between 90-105 Celsius (not sure how precisely measures the temperature the 3rd party app). Is that normal?

Thanks!

Can't answer about the Mac-related stuff since I'm a Windows user, but ...

I think your Mac has an i5-5257U CPU (http://ark.intel.com/products/84985/Intel-Core-i5-5257U-Processor-3M-Cache-up-to-3_10-GHz), which has a maximum operating temperature of 105C. Normally it should run well below that.

I think that laptop CPUs get much hotter than the average desktop CPUs, so I'm not sure whether 90C is too hot, but 100C definitely is in my opinion (and I still think anything above 75-80C is not very good either).

- The 32 bits version is the only one available on Mac.

- There is no borderless mode for the game (which I also find regrettable). I personally play in windowed mode. It takes a bit away from the immersion but I'm a compulsive alt-tabber anyway.

- I haven't tried it, but this might be linked to your issues below somehow.

- I'd suggest checking your computer is well ventilated enough. I think Macbook cases are sealed, though, so I'm not sure how easy that can be. A can of air might come in handy to clear the vents of dust in any case.

Hope this helps! smiley: smile

Thank you for the answers!

My MBP is brand new, fan works perfectly. It's the CPU, many applications heat up the CPU, even simple ones. Maybe its an El Capitan issue, maybe its just Mac OS, i dont know. Im new to this OS.

Somehow i was thinking that the default resolution on Mac OS is highest one (the lowest resolution windowed Endless Legend was larger than the system screen). Thats why is was swithcing to fullscreen in the game. Silly me. smiley: smile

Maybe you can have someone at the Apple Store have a look (I heard that Apple support is great, at least for new device owners).

90+ C is a bit too hot IMO.

Hi,

My MacBookPro (last model) with maximum configuration heats to the max for no reason —as my 2 first MBP— sometimes watching an HD movie increase fans speed (can't hear actors talking...) ! Even with SSD.

A cooling pad prevents temperature increases.

This will extend your MBP's life.
