I was just wondering, when I research the river dredger tech and science sea tech, does my city have to have tiles on the river or lake/sea to benefit from these techs? Or does the river/lake/sea just have to be within my region to benefit from them?

You get the bonus for constructing the building that is introduced with the tech on all tiles that have a river/a sea, respectively.

So if you e.g. build dust dredges, each river tile gets 2 dust bonus and each sea tile 3 dust bonus, if it is harvested by your city, I believe.

You need to have at least the farm tiles of your city on a hex in order to get fids from it. So no, it doesn't do you any good unless at least the farm tiles are occupying the water hexes.

Yes, technically it increases the output of all the river/water tiles in your region, but you still have to expand onto them to collects fids.

excellent, thanks for clearing that up smiley: smile. I'll be using vaulters for my next game and wanted to make sure I took advantage of the sea research tech for science boosts properly.
