Well, the Chain Lightning has very low utility considering it only works on units without armor. All my units have armor at all times right from the beginning. I mean sure I have to upgrade my first 2 units because they don't come with armor but still.

Edit- hmm though if you assimilated them and used them yourself ...isn't there a bug where like AI necrophages won't wear armor?

Unless they fixed it in this patch, chain lightning still absolutely works on units with armor.

Sure, if you are looking at a Daemon's unit screen and hover over where it says Chain Lightning it will tell you that. I guess it would be scary if you were using the Proliferator and creating unarmored troops but I edit my troops from turn 1 to have armor so its no bother to me.

@Larcent: If it does the popup tooltip over Chain Lightning was telling me wrong. This was before the patch today and I haven't seen a Daemon since but I'll check. Also, before this patch I fought Daemon's and they never Chain Lightning'd me but then I had armor on so I didn't expect them to.

I just assimilated some Kajanzi(sp) in my regions just to see. For sure and absolute fact, if you hover over Chain Lightning and read the text about it, it says "Does not work against units with armor".

That's what the text says, but I had a group of armored necrophages decimated by chain lightning under the last patch.

Conversely, under the last patch I never was chain lightning'd by Daemon's and I pacified at least 3 of their villages which had an average of 2-3 Daemon's in them. Never once lightning'd but I did have armor so ...

Here's a fight with them captured on video: Twitch video. Scroll ahead to 1:38.00 minutes for the fight. I checked and made sure and all of the units in this fight are armored. At 1:39:00 you can see a demon hit all five of my units with one hit.

You are right, it does look like they used Chain Lightning on armored units. Huh, I'm not sure what to say. The mechanic is weirdly broken then in that it only works wrongly (against armored units) occasionally, not all the time. The tooltip text said it shouldn't work against armored units and it, in fact, did not against mine but just as obviously it did against yours.

I think the devs need to take a look and see whats happening with this.

@Larcent: Could it be a bug that it doesn't think your necrophages are armored because you didn't fit them with helmets? The Ettin's did have helmets but when you first edited the Necrodrones you only put a chestplate and boots, no helmet.

Not sure, just trying to see what you did differently than me.

Wouldn't Chain Lightning be a useless ability in late game if they will not work against armored units?

Do having either a piece of head gear or leg gear or chest gear on your unit means your unit is armored?

I do hope that Chain Lightning will continue to affect armored unit, but reduce their damage to like 50% as it is still an AOE effect.

Hello,

Sorry for the misunderstanding, by "unit with Armor" we meant the extra Armor given by the city defence. We'll clarify it in the next patch!

Regarding the accumulation of the Sweep and the Chain Lightning, it won't be the case in the next build either. We're working on the items at the moment but it wasn't ready for that patch, so we preferred to delay it a bit.

@Meedoc: You may want to have a look at it in anycase because I fought 3 villages of Daemons and never got Chain Lightning'd once. They did the sweeps but nothing else.
