Instability with 64 bit Windows version solved by playing 32 bit version?

I've been waiting to report this, because I was sure I was going to get another random crash after some hours of playing, but for the past couple days I have been playing the 32 bit version of the game and I have had zero crashes. The 64-bit version of the game crashes frequently for me - at least once every couple hours of gameplay, sometimes more frequently. I have filed more than a dozen bug reports in the Tech Support forum with details, but none of the crashes seem to be reproducible.

So, if you're playing the 64-bit Windows version of the game (which is the default version Steam installs) and it is giving you trouble, try switching to the 32 bit version. You can do this by right-clicking on Endless Legend in your Steam library, select Properties, then select the BETAS tab in the Properties window. Open up the "Select the beta you would like to opt into" menu, and select the option "32-bit - 32-bit content for 64-bit users". You may see a short download after doing this, but if it worked, the game will say "Endless Legend [32-bit]" in your game library.

I'm disappointed that the 64-bit version doesn't work, but I have had no problems at all with the 32-bit version, and I'm running with max graphics settings. It is not noticeably slower or degraded in any way that I can tell - it just doesn't randomly crash on me.

I'm just afraid that now that I've posted this, the game is going to make a liar out of me and start crashing again...

Your technical specifications sire - This thread is largely useless without more information.

I'm just sharing what worked for me. I don't need any help with the game.

But if you're curious:

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64 bit

CPU: i7-3770K @ 3.5 GHz

RAM: 8 GB

Video: AMD Radeon R9-270X 4GB (Catalyst 14.4)

Audio: AMD HDMI Audio (driver 7.12.0.7718)

Well obviously instability on 64bit is unintended - We'll want to figure out what causes it and how to fix it.

Although judging by your hardware I don't see any immediate causes - I have pretty similarly "tiered" hardware and I haven't had a single crash so far. I use Win 8.1 though and have an nVidia card.

Well, there are lots of reports from various people of 64-bit version random crashes in the Tech Support forum, so hopefully those dump files will have something in common that can help track it down. I've tried all the troubleshooting I can think of, short of the nuclear not-an-option of reinstalling Windows.
