Impossible to say with certainty but it's possible it was both unit and building production costs, upkeep costs for units and buildings (making them more expensive to upkeep instead of cheaper), and lastly receiving extra expansion disapproval instead of less. I think we can say with some degree of certainty that the unit and building production costs were definitely receiving the penalties, so it's just a question of the upkeep costs and expansion disapproval being possible.

In which categories did the AI receive a malus on Slow and Endless speed? Thanks in advance.

Well the Necrophages smashed my Vaulters main army on normal/slow early on in the game. First time I ever had a hero killed.

They were very aggressive. Made a beeline straight for my army even though we were in a neutral region.

If the rest of the game plays out like this, I'll be pretty happy and look forward to more AI tweaks.

Yeah the fix have gone into the build... weird that our patchnote didn't mention it.

I can ask Lt_Miles to add it...

Thanks for testing and have a nice week end!

flo.

P.S. Glad to hear that you think AI is better! It should take some more flesh in the next few weeks!

The AI seems a lot tougher in my new game on Slow speed. Not a big enough sample size obviously but they never stomped my main army before, so....

This is weird to me, too! Maybe Lt_Miles will actually verify it and change the patch notes. It should be clear one way or the other.

Quick and dirty test indicates it was indeed stealth fixed. Seems weird not to mention what I consider by far the most important fix they did in the patch notes given it theoretically fixes the AI on Slow and Endless speed but the important thing is its fixed.

Well, what I could check is fixed. Obviously it's possible the stuff I couldn't check so easily isn't fixed but we should discover that over time as we see if the AI on Slow and Endless speeds is more competitive now.

So lets do this thinggggg. Still a week of gaming left before Beyond Earth destroys my life.

A couple people have asked if you can tweak some of the XML to still play on the slower speeds without this bug and the answer is... kinda... but at that point you're probably better off playing on normal speed anyway. So I'd probably either play on Normal speed or wait for the patch rather than try to cobble together a kludge to fix this.

Ditto. I don't know everything affected by this bug but there's enough stuff that playing Slow or Endless until it is patched is very problematic currently.

I am also waiting for the next patch to start playing again.

The AI was affected by this bug.

The bug should be fixed in the next build (you are never sure about a bug...)

The next build should be real soon (you are never... well... you know the rest ^^')

Have a nice day!

While we're waiting for the patch, are there any changes we can make to the 'SimulationDesciptors/GameSpeedBonuses.XML' file to temporarily fix this? I really like to play on 'endless' speed. Thanks in advance.

I don't know if this has been noticed yet, but I ran through all the difficulty settings and finished with endless. I have to say I never noticed a real challenge. I could make mistakes, etc. now this is something I found out.

Once I changed the game speed to normal the game difficulty became much much harder. So I think there is an issue with game speed effecting the game difficulty settings.

Synra thats whats ctrl + moves is for if your talking about the combat AI. The only time my units have not done what I ask of them is when the enemy outsmarted me and I did not guess correctly where his units would be (for example using my ranged unit while he actually pulled back that one unit i targeted with them all so they now spread damage automatically.)

Well maybe, but I'm not sure many people actually play on those settings smiley: smile. When they do things like spread damage across all combat targets, or charge archers into enemy lines to kill militia at the backs of fights... or only build infantry units... or skip their turns (support units particularly)...

No wonder people have been complaining bad AI. If they played on slow or slower endless AI is a cakewalk. Just did a 8 player game and I did not even have to think my turns to win and was ahead in tech etc whole game. That is very far from what happens in fast speed.

Its okay, it will pass. Its just a little bit of self-loathing dying inside.

Go watch some mainstream television and you'll be just fine.

Yeah, the bugs with production costs and such increasing when you got a "bonus" rather than decreasing only occur on Slow and Endless because of a mistake in the way they were handling a modifier which could be either positive or negative, and that only came up on Slow and Endless speeds. That issue is supposed to be fixed in the Real Soon Now patch so maybe if it was a more widespread problem it will be fixed as well. But we don't actually know if this problem was hitting the AI too with their bonuses since we can't see so it's just a theory.

Interesting so the slower gamespeeds might have this problem. I only played fast and medium myself.

I theorized elsewhere that a bunch of the AI bonuses on Slow and Endless speeds might be being applied in the opposite direction than intended. ie they were actually penalizing the AI instead of helping it. Because they are negative "bonuses" and some of the other negative bonuses for the human player were doing exactly that, increasing costs and stuff instead of decreasing them. But we have no real way to check without access to the code.
