Every time you advance to a new era, your units become more expensive to build, but also start at a higher level.



The quicksilver luxury booster gives +100% unit XP.



It appears that "start at a higher level" is implemented by giving the units a bunch of XP when they're first recruited...and the quicksilver luxury booster doubles it.



For example, I'm currently in era 4, so normally newly-trained units would start at level 4 (that's a total of 240 XP = 40 for level 2 + 80 for level 3 + 120 for level 4). With my quicksilver booster active, they're starting at level 5, with 80 XP towards level 6 (a total of 480 XP, counting from level 1). I don't have any buildings or hero modifiers that give extra XP in this city (though come to think of it, I should...*buys new accessory for governor*).



Is that how it's supposed to work?

Not sure, but that paired with conscription (units start with 40xp) could be down right dirty.

Thank you. That would explain why I was able to make level 10 units sometimes. Without a booster they were level 7.

I can confirm that when at 6th era, if having quicksilver, you will instantly get level 8 units.



I assume this is intended, since it was not changed in last 2 years.



Still, it is really powerful...

I don't know if it is supposed to work that way, but I am glad that it does. It is incredibly useful for some of the faction quests where you need an army of high-level units to finish a step (Like the Broken Lords quest).
