Make Starting Heroes Random :(

I want to play certain factions but just don't like their starting heroes. I don't want to be stuck playing with heroes I don't want.

Even if I can put up with him/her, starting heroes end up the highest-level on my roster. And I just don't like that.

Is there any known way to randomize the starting hero? Someone pls make a mod for thatsmiley: frown

Hello LaSpeakeasi,



You can easily change the starting hero of a faction if you don't like it (in the command line "create army" in FactionTraits[Affinity].xml).

You just need to find the right UnitProfile reference you want.



However it is not included in our system to randomize the creation.

I thought about making a mod giving a choice of exclusive heroes for free on the market but it implies a lot of things (having the technology first) and with a quick test it was not totally relevant (not everything depends on TradableHeroExclusive category).

Hi, thanks for the reply.



I'm terribly proficient with a computer. I tried messing with the 'FactionTraits[Affinity].xml' file by changing the number in e.g. "UnitProfileMadFairiesHero1" and it crushed my game when I started a new campaign with that faction.



I just seems like adding a campaign option to randomize all or one factions' starting hero(es) shouldn't take up much dev time; instead of having players messing with it without the proper skills. Not everyone who plays your game is computer whiz.



I also want to emphasis the "random" aspect. It will encourage players to try out different playstyles. If you get a governor hero or an adventurer at the start, you'll have to play differently. Players on Steam support this idea as well:
