So I bought this game
and all its expansions since this is one of the few games and developers
where they actually consider their fans
both suggestions and criticisms
unlike EA's Sims 4 team who permaban people from their forums for pointing out minor flaws of the game... (but thats another story)

Basically my first playthrough ever was with the roving clan
and I made it decently before being overrun by cultists and necrophages.
then stopped...
and returned and bought all new DLCs after "Guardians"

Basically the new additions are amazing to the game
and i relearn several mechanics aswell
but now im wondering

Forgotten.
their dust reliance is insane
and its hard to upkeep
i was in 30 turns with 3 cities and several scientific upgrades, 3 heroes and about 12 units scattered in armies or guarding cities.
and even with dust upgrades and such im taking on -5 dust a turn.

so how do you exactly play Forgotten?
and any other race recommended?

Regarding the Forgotten - >this and >this are guides, and >this is a playthrough on Endless. You can find those in the Hints section, you guys should check out that place, lots of useful stuff.

I wouldn't necessarily recommend playing Forgotten if you are getting reacquainted with the game after a long period, especially considering the AI's difficulty has been improved somewhat.

Surprised however that you're saying you didn't get much help from the links BPrado posted. What else are you looking for? smiley: smile

Well Vaulters and Wild Walkers are IMO the best races to begin with.

Then I would try the Broken Lords. The Dust to Population mechanic and health regeneration are pretty straightforward.

Yeah you don't really want to start with the Cultists, Allayi, Forgotten or Mages. Those are best left until you know the basic game mechanics a bit better.

Although the Mages are a bit more straightforward, they still have mechanics that take a bit to master.

Excellent choice. Maybe Drakken too, considering their possibility to force truce and peace to get you out of a tight spot if necessary. smiley: smile

To me in normal speed 12 units is really a lot, although it depends a lot of your playstyle.

It depends too if you have thesse units in many different armies, as each army has a pretty high upkeep. You can of course save dust by having units garrisoned in your cities.

You can also put some citizens on dust production (with the empire plan on economy for an extra +3 dust/citizen bonus), and pillaging your least friendly neighbours is a good thing, I don't know if you already do it. You'll get extra dust for it, being a Forgotten.

Even if you don't enjoy that much the Vaulters and the Wild Walkers, you should really give them a try to see how the mechanics of this game works with "standard" factions.

But if you really want to stick with the Forgotten, you can watch experienced players on youtube ; Panczasu and TecToss are both pretty good, and they've done some tutorials that might be great for you smiley: smile

I hope you'll soon master this awesome game!

I really hope this doesn´t sound wrong, especially since I don´t even know how to make videos, but I still haven´t found a good youtube video to learn how to play the game well. They´re great to get to know the game, but there´s still a lack of highly skilled players making tutorials. The written ones are much better so far, particularly Jojo´s general guide.

I don't think you can really find that many "high-level" plays on youtube. I started on this forum asking for introductory videos and tutorials, but now even I can spot quite a few mistakes in some of the LPs.

Panczasu is a really good player OTOH, as he knows the game flow in great detail, so that he can perfectly match the timings on research, city expansion and quest progress. This requires a *lot* of play-throughs and trial-and-error.
