Doesn't work with custom factions. Which would explain why I wasn't steam rolling the AI. Also maybe it's just me, but custom factions seem to the screw with the AI a bit. That or Allayi and Ardent Mages just suck every game.

:( on that technolover. It's frustrating because I feel like when it comes to these types of games I always manage to find some excuse to restart the game. I still haven't gotten beyond era 3 after 40 odd hours of doing Endless Legend related things...

Oh and Cultist units suck. Not very constructive sorry. I just feel like up until I get the archer unit, I'm pretty much relying solely on my hero to tank, deal damage, and deal damage. So pretty much everything. I started off with serious difficulty from the get-go (I do that with every game, cause reasons) and protecting my villages is frustrating to say the least. Largely because I never have any dust to do anything. The 10 upkeep per village and 5 per stack is very crippling. They do have, I would say, god-like heroes. All the factions probably do though. I've only played vaulters (who are actually god-like) and cultist. Cultist heroes are powerful I think because of the 2 items they get through their quest line. Of course having not gotten past era 3, I don't know how these items compare to late-game accessories. A shame.. I wanted to like the cultist. It's partly okay though because they are still the best, hands down, governors.

I'd have to test it more, but I also can't seem to get sweep strike back to work. Chain lightning, and by extension the units that use it.. garbage. Alot of minor faction units seem kinda mehh. That harpy though (or Arpuja), really annoying. Particularly because drakken seem particularly fond of spamming these things. So until further notice drakken has been banned from all future games. (Hate those guys)

The only cultists unit that sucks is Prechers due being squishy and very vulnerable to any kind of unit that can come nearby..



Both Fanatics and Guards are awesome, especially after you get faction related items to boost them.



As for their villages, defending them passively is pointless. Just put single unit to prevent attacks by scouts and be done with it. Any enemy army with hero would outclass them. And dont borther converting villages near enemy region if you do not want to go to offense soon.



On the other hand, village units if paired with your hero are pretty decent replacement for your faction units. At least those troops most tecently added since they start with iron/dust equipment and level appropriate to the eraa (but cant be upgraded further). And those troops with older equipment are best used as scouts or sold for dust if not needed.



As for dust for cultists, obtain some glassteel, research techs that give dust per pop buildings and get 2nd tier glasstel armor tech to be able to create book item that increases dust per pop on governor.



After that, dust drain from converted villages will be minimal.

Technolover works with "Affinity resource", and only the Vaulter/Mezari affinities allow access to this affinity resource. So if you want it, you'd have to use either of these affinities.

What he said. :D I'm playing a custom Vaulter based faction with it now and it works fine.

You defend cultist villages by wiping out the AIs adjacent to them  


Also I found that early game cultist gameplay is very hidey and passive; you can't field a great military from the start and you need a lot of resources to start your big deathball, so really when would you even build your good units early game when you're trying to rush to the Industrial Megapole as fast as possible?
