No "salt the city" option when capturing an enemy city?

This option should not exist as it is. For now you can raze a metropolis in one turn and destroy the victory of a conquiering player, which have invested some troops in this attack and merit to conquier your city. And razing his own people super fast and like that is absurd.

A city should be razed (not this term, but more a term for an organised retreat) in these conditions in my opinion :

- You got 100 % control of the city.

- The process long last 5 turns and cannot be beginned if city is assieged.

- When the 5 turns are over, each population in the city give one food reserve. Each building is solved for half his equivalent in production.

A long the same lines, It would be nice if the original owner comes to reclaim their land, against the razing or the annexation, some rebel armies (in proportion to the population) should join and become under the control of the original owner to help fend off and expel the invaders.

I've posted about this before.

The game is quite bad at explaining its own concepts, despite a slick looking UI...

Yeah, but that I'm OK with. These are their special abilities that makes them both worth while.

Yea, I like this. Once you start the process to raze a city, it should be unreversable unless the city is recaptured, but then some structures and population has been lost. When you raze a city, you take a global diplomatic hit with the peaceful factions or factions that are identical with he city that was razed. This makes the Cultists somewhat disliked more than they already are. This also means that if one merc army razes a city, they are all equally hated now.

City annexation has a slow transformation of the structures in the city to the conquered tile sets

Lol, yes. Very realistic if you couldn't counter a city of yours taken. And good for gameplay? Given that a thought too?

Title.

Capturing enemy cities and for some reason, there doesn't seem to be a "Salt the Earth" option, forcibly sticking me with the city.

Any workaround for this?

The city is instantly razed if you capture it with a Privateer army. All you need is two techs for that: Market and Privateers. You can even clean out the city using siege and use a single unit Privateer to burn it down.

It seems kind of unrealistic. A conqueror that razes cities just goes in and torches everything as soon as the army falls. There should be an option to raze the city or try to convert it upon capture.

There should be a salt the earth, but it will take a minimum of (insert turns here) and the city is destroyed like in CIV.

P sure the idea is to give the city a chance to go up from rebellion while also forcing you to choose your take overs wisely. Lots of people were simply razing cities as soon as they were conquered to negate the hit to empire approval.

As Teslaflux mentioned once ownership is complete you can raze the city if you still wish to.

Ahh, okay.

Thanks a bunch!
