I am currently playing on a Huge-8 map on impossible difficulty. How do I know how many army slots I get? I ask this because I am considering a custom faction with anarchy (removes 1-2 empire army slots)

You get four army slots, +2 for a tier 2 tech, +2 for, uh, tier 4 tech i think? For a total of 8 at endgame. -1/-2 for anarchy.

Anarchists isn't that bad for elites, you just end up with two armies, one entering from reserve. I wouldn't go for the -2 version though.

To clarify, the mentioned factors all affect the maximum number of units per army, not the maximum number of armies. AFAIK there is no limit to the number of armies you can have.



It's true that you can "cheat" the army size limit a bit by bringing a second army to use as reinforcements, but remember that players who didn't take the anarchist trait can do that, too.
