First I want to say that I'm very excited for the new expansion. I'm hoping to enjoy the new race and new aquatic mechanics and gameplay it brings. I didn't think I'd be looking forward to naval combat or mechanics as much s I am.

What I wanted to confirm though is what the patch with the new expansion will do for the base game. We had discussed several issues with AI behavior in terms of diplomacy previously and also brought to light some things that needed tweaking in terms of how it makes its armies (not frequently researching above tier 1 units, not using dust equipment or accessories i.e. regen or improved life).  Also, the relative boring late game with the AI allowing you easy wins as you press the end turn button until you complete your wonder/quest/scientific victory.

It would be nice to know if some of these things are being addressed along with the expansion. I really hope this is the case.

Really need updates!  More people would come to play this game if  the AI  was competitive.

New content is not  important, if the AI is still not adapted and useless. For example, even on first turn, Ai can't separate settler from other units to found a city and  waste all movement point of  all army. Or one more important fix: Ai can't use remaining movement points  after retreat.(But when user save game on current turn and will load it - Ai awakes and begins move!)

I am fairly sure that they have already mentioned in several different places that they've performed a lot of work on the AI in the meantime that will be released in the next patch. I expect the AI patch will be part f the free patch, not the DLC.

I must have missed where they said it. I know they were looking at those things but ES 2 was taking a lot of resources as well. So some confirmation that they've been dealt with, even partially, would be nice.

If I can spare the time, I'll try to find one of the posts where they said it. Otherwise, it's probably just a matter of time before Frogsquadron drags Wilbefast in here to talk about AI improvements.
