Hi guys,

I've been trying to complete the game on Impossible and Endless difficulty, but it seems to be too hard and AI too overpowered. Sometimes I get 2 or 3 declaring war on me at turn ~40 and more war on turn ~100. By the turn 100 my units are still level 2-4 while the AI already have units level 8-10 with most of the researches done(last era) and I'm still on era II-III.

When I'm able to research I cant upgrade or build because of lacking of resources, mainly Titanium and Glasteel.

I try to clean the minor factions around my cities to level my units quick, however most of the time if I've 2-3 units only they kill my units very easily and I ended up with no units and hero in the hospital.

I've tried with Broken Lords, Wild Walkers and Necrophage.

I was able to beat the game only with custom factions, am I that bad?

I'm trying with these settings:

1) factions 6

2) difficulty: impossible or endless

3) world : pangea

4) size: normal

5) speed: normal( 300 turns)

Basically they are all the normal settings except the difficulty.

Cheers,

MadMax.

It is possible-- at least for some factions, can't say for all.

One way to do it is to get a very powerful army going by turn 40. For me, that means halting nearly all economic development upon reaching tier 2 and going full military. The large number of potential wars means a lot of back and forth still-- take two cities, lose one on the other side of your empire-- but it's doable.

Another way is to research diplomat's manse ASAP. Early peace agreements should net you some goodies, but later agreements might cost you. Still, the AI never seems to jump from peace to war, so with sufficient gifts and influence, you can stay on the good side of everyone.

Military victories are the norm on endless difficulty, although wonder victories are probably doable (all those "get your units to level 6" steps that are impossible in small, normal games become very easy on endless).

It is possible is has been done by few players. Endless, quick speed I am sure it has been done. Normal speed I don't know.

You need to be a total warmonger. You dont settle city. You attack and take a city when you can take it. And you continue. As the A.I will have a superproduction and science you will have catch excellent cities. The game will start to begin more and more easy with your new conquests.

I've beaten the game on every difficulty with almost every faction. Very doable.

I did do it. Sorta.

On Endless I started off strong with my superior human tactics and early expansion. Then I fell helplessly behind for a very long mid game where I fought defensively. I was not afraid to give the AI heavy bribes in resources and even the occasional city to make truces with him during that sad midgame where I was pathetic (and the AI explicitly called me as such). It helped to also manipulate my borders so that the two AIs bordering me were busy fighting each other. I was slowly shrinking but the AI hit the tech cap which allowed me to catch up. Then I went on the warpath, it was hard and slow, but I was doing it, I had eliminated 2 AI factions and was 2/3rds of the way through a third when it won via science victory. I hit continue playing and killed everyone else conquering the world.

First time around I also did do some mild save scumming for testing out strategies as I learned

Most important advice I can give you is to use XP boosters on new units. Levels are godly and the extra XP on recruitment helps a ♥♥♥♥ton. There are structures that give it, as well as a dust tome for the governor.

You should not feel bad, its ridiculously unfair. in endless mode the AI literally gets 90% discount on buying stuff plus a bunch of other bonuses

thank you guys!

I guess I'm going to keep trying and plan better my games. What kills me the most is the lack of main resources such as Titanium and Glasteel so I can't upgrade my units.

I'll see if I can win at least one game with the suggestions above..

An early Silics assimilation can go a very long way toward alleviating that.

You can assimilate Silics earlier to accumulate resources, then switch your assimilation to a different Minor Faction like Geldirus or Erycis (two of my faves) when the time comes.
