In-game description of update claims to have FULL controller support.

I'm sorry, Devs, but this

RELEASE NOTES - "PACT OF THE SEAS" [1.5.0]

  • Added new key bindings in order to ease the use of the Steam Controller.

is NOT a full support. I just have few more actions I can bind to keyboard keys, and map said keyboard keys to controller actions, instead of need to configure Mouse Region to click on GUI elements quickly.

VALVe define full support as the follows:

  • Your game uses the Steam Controller glyphs when showing in-game input prompts.

  • The Controller Configuration screen in Steam uses in-game actions that the player performs in your game, instead of keys or buttons.

  • You've published an Official configuration for the controller.

  • Your game doesn't restrict the user's ability to customize their controls. This means it allows any mix of mouse, keyboard, or gamepad input simultaneously.

  • When your game wants keyboard input (e.g. when naming avatars), you call ISteamUtils::ShowGamepadTextInput() to automatically bring up the text entry UI.

  • Your game has no launchers that require mouse or KB input - or even better, no launcher at all.

I'd be very happy to have native support, with in-game action names I can map to, with different actions sets that switch on-the-fly contextually (empire management, map, espionage, unit designer, main menu etc), backed up with official configuration, so that new users don't have to map it on their own.

Oh, and radial menu with icon set from your game for every management screen (F1-F10) would be neat too.

P.S. Big Picture warns me with a big yellow message "game is not designed for controller and requires configuration", so I know it's still DIY instead of full support.

Played a bit of EL with the Steam Controller myself, and I must say that it wasn't that bad.

This would definitely be a nice addition ^^

I'm not saying it's bad, but it's far from having "full" support without using SC API.
