Using the science pillar can help you to reach this amount more easily.

Cheers,

I had the same problem with the "A Trail Gone Cold" quest. I was expanding my empire, when it gave me that quest, and I built a <10 Science city before the >10 Science city. Happened in two different games, and on the second, tried before and after building the <10 city, and only worked only if I built the >10 first. It would be good to check if the quest checks only for your first city built after showing up.

Bugged for me too. This happened to me with the Broken Lords last week. I've submitted saves so I'll just wait for the patch.

I didn't realize the Mages had a nearly exact quest. Sigh.

will it fix the bug retroactively if we've settled a new city but didn't get the quest, or only for games going forward?

Thank you for the bug report.

There is indeed a bug with that quest, it will be fixed in the next update.

I'm having the same problem. Founded a new city, well over 10 to start with (Geothermal pit) but the quest is still open and there are no uncolonised regions in which to try again. The city is Stigarnal in the attached save file.AutoSave 1168.zip

Hello,

If you are experiencing an issue where the amount of science on terrain is correct but do not trigger the quest please do not hesitate to send us a save otherwise we won't be able to help.

Thanks a lot!

I am also experiencing this problem, which I think is quite weird as I have managed to finish this quest phase at least two times before the current game.

Could be. I try to recall the game with Ardent Mages having this issue. I think I had settled 4 cities total before I got this quest, which never triggered. If this prevents me to accomplish the quest, then I suspect it is caused by the same reason when I couldn't complete Necrophrages quest "The 36th Chamber". The game suggested I was supposed to put Ka-Riss on my city as a governor. The city I found the second. I did it, but I never saw construction possibilities of the chamber. And I had the technology due to previous part of a chain.

Looks like we are obliged to do the quest chain "as intented", i.e. not to expand before A Trail Gone Cold. smiley: frown It's a pity, because quest chains provide unique technologies.

Unfortunately, I have the same problem. As I have already colonized 4 regions to pacify lesser tribes, when I receive the quest, no matter how many points I could get from tiles or anomalies, the quest doesn't trigger. Please fix this Amplitude. Please. smiley: cry

I just recently bought this game from the steam sale and am really enjoying it, but I too am having issues with this quest. I took the advice of using the pillar on a tile that boosted it's individual science score up to 9 and the surrounding tiles had at least 1 science with one having a 5 score. When I settle, I can have as high as a 26 unmodified science score from the city tiles, but this quest will not trigger. Does anyone have any ideas what I can do do complete this quest?

Hmm, could that be? That would explain few other quest chains that does not work.

Maybe the quest popped up after you founded the two cities? Some (most? [all?]) of the quests in EL are not retroactive. I think this is a hardcoded issue, and that the game engine does not keep track any of the information from previous turns, except for the chart-y graph-y things. (though I may be wrong)

This seems buggy... I founded two new cities with a custom faction, both had over 10 science output at the moment they were founded, neither of them caused the quest to complete. My custom faction doesn't have pillars, but the cities had 10+ science naturally just from terrain.

How do I complete "A Trail Gone Cold"? I got the quest, founded a new city in an icy area with ice statues and whatnot, it is producing a lot more than 10 science around but the quest is still hanging around.

Is there something specific I need to do to make the city my empire's "alchemy lab" or has the chain just bugged out on me?

EDIT

Nevermind, I got it. You've got to get the 10 research at the instant you build the city, you can't expand the city to get it.

Hi,

I am late to the thread, but if anyone has problems still, I found a fix.

Delete the lab in the current city and try the city that triggered the previous step,

If it still does nto work, repeat through cities until it triggers the next step.

Cheers.
