In my opinion the problem is in your units, too weak for sure, you need more tanks to protect them. Probably would die also with better equipment

I always keep a ratio of 50% between tanks for the vanguard and ranged/flying/healers etc.

Deal with this...

... Man now I'm afraid of this game. But I feel your worry OP. The Necrophages seem most adept at taking one take and steam rolling other nations. Although it did make my game as the Cultists a lot more interesting. I never saw any stacks like the picture above though!

As mentioned before, offense and defense are vital, above anything else. You need to at least be able to match enemy defense (via buffs, equipment, unit tier etc) to deal normal damage on most attacks, and you want your tank to focus solely on defense followed by HP. Until you get to 8 army slots it will be difficult most times to completely block enemy units from reaching your back line (ranged units / support) and the AI is notorious for trying to target those units if he is sporting any ranged slayers (most flying units have this trait, also provided by Axes if am not mistaken).

Necrophages have the disease ability which deals percentage based damage and spreads from unit to unit. You will either need sisters for support to give immunity to disease - or use healers - or have high defense and regen. Your archers will never shine in defense department, especially if faced with ranged slaying trait enemies, they are squishy (like all ranged units) and need to be protected by other units (either cavalry with stuns or tanky units that can block access to your archers) or strike first and hard to remove several threats and increase your odds of winning (preferred both).

I learnt that the hard way myself, in my first game with WW I was sporting only rangers as troops, all in full glass steel 2 and I've run into vaulters running full cavalry (dawn comando or what is called) with 6 movement, high initiative, axes (ranged slayer 2 or 3) and I got wiped in 3 turns (they also had higher defense and blocking from shields so my guys were shooting for half damage or 0 damage).

In addition, I believe it is a bug, but reinforcement armies are not always included in the calculation on who would win (but they are included when you auto the battle). Therefore, even though you had more units, you might get the same result when initiating the battle.

I'm guessing you aren't retrofitting your troops or aren't saving your designs when you finish.

In your screenshot none of your troops have a number after them (like they will after you upgrade them). See how the neco troops are Proliferator 14, Necrodrone 3, Necordrone 15, Forager 15. All your troops are Dekari Ranger, Walker, etc with no number after.

You need to make sure you design your new troops, save them, then retrofit your units with the new design.

Hopefully that helps.

Upgrade your weapons/armor and army size. Use luxury resources to give yourself a bonus in combat. Use the empire plan to boost up your military. Necrophages and Drakken can be totally OP (feels like it) early on, but then if you follow a militarist game plan, you'll be fine.

Always smash the bugs early. Always. Once I started as Vaulters on hard difficulty on a small island (six regions I believe) right next to a Necrophage AI. First thing I did was training troops and killing the Necros before they could do anything. Best solution if you ask me.

i will keep this in mind for the next play.

This game is quality over quantity, which is why you can march through the game with a one stack army if you keep ahead of the arms race. You're rolling six stacks. The Necs are rolling an eight stack, which means you are almost two eras behind them in terms of military tech. You can see how you're doing compared to the other factions in the empire status screen. The Necs are good at science so try to smash them early before they tech up.

hey there. i just played a new game as the wild walkers. and i had the necrophages on the same island as mine.

every time this happens i get *gently inserted a large object into my rectum*.

they are invincible. i made an army of fly slayers and they mainly composed of fly type enemies.

here is a screenshot of the battle: (i had redone my 3 previous turns after this screenshot and redirected my fund to almost double the units with the same result!)

smiley: lol.png" alt="smiley: smiley: lol" title="smiley: lol" />player101/untitled1.png" />

their units one shot even my walkers!

this can not be balanced. despite the level difference.

what to do to survive them?

i was playing the game on the one just 1 level above normal (can't remember what, sorry)

Looks like you just need to put some more research into your armies like Propbuddha said.

Even in you want to play a peacefull game it would be a good idea to still get military techs.

Be sure to keep upgrading your troops. Also use the Rings/amulets on your hero to give your units more bonuses in damage/initiative as well. (If you look, your Rangers are still at the first equipment level using Iron 1 weapons. Comparably the Necrodrones are "Necrodrone 15". I would assume they are at least using Glassteel if not Paladium weapons/armor).

Well, I'll ask you this - if you invested heavily in your Military and your opponent did not, wouldn't you be just as upset if their troops fight you off?

It's not just researching One tech. It's researching 3 techs, + owning territory with Strategic resources + building extractors + paying more smiley: industry to build higher quality troops. Wouldn't you agree that the effort should pay off?

I'm not suggesting the game is balanced at the moment, but investing in Military should pay off.

that's kind of a bomer. i had a great start until they came. well it was only turn 150-ish so it's not the end of the world but i find that theu can balance this a little better.

other then that i love the game. LOVE. but i find the fact that 1 single tech can change everything to be a little to imbalanced.

Yes because they are upgraded and yours are not.

Upgrading your troops with higher tech gear is the most important thing to making them strong, much more important than leveling them up. In the current version, jumping from T1 Iron equipment (the stuff you start with) to T2 Glassteel equipment (which you get in Era 2) roughly doubles the Damage of units and gives Initiative boosts that ensure they act first.

Make sure you get Alchemist's Furnace early and start harvesting Glassteel (preferably) and/or Titanium in Era 1 . In Era 2, start upgrading when you get Alchemical Armors and Alchemical Alloys. These 3 techs are pretty much "must have" currently.

@propbuddha,

i did not had them yet but was very close.

most archers were however equipped with bows as to maximize the damage against flying types.

like i said i redid a take with almost twice the units with the same results. their units one shot my every unit!

Are you researching the Titanium/Glassteel Equipment in Era 2 and upgrading your troops?

At the same tech level, Dekari Rangers should wipe the floor with Necrodrones.
