Hello everyone.

In all the time I played EL (not that long, though) I never managed to figure out how to skill a Drakken hero. While I appreciate their heals in combat their skill tree does look like a mess to me with neither having good governor skills not all that awesome army skills.

How do you guys skill Drakkens?

Ant the other question, maybe I am remembering wrong, but aren't I supposed to be only able to equip quest rewards once? Currently I can equip all my heroes with quest items once I unlocked them. Is this intended or a bug?

Drakken heroes, with rare exception, should probably be army leaders. Their city bonuses are much less game-changing than those of the Cultists (like... God-tier city managers), Vaulters or Ardent Mage heroes - even Broken Lords or Roving Clan heroes make for better governors in a game where dust income is king. Then Influence boost is nice, but hardly necessary. The food boost is just... objectively bad compared to other races' boosts, and the approval rating is useful only really early on, when you won't have unlocked it yet.

They are however, incredibly good army leaders. The heal is godly and the Support perk tree shouldn't be underestimated - taken together, you army will operate better than anyone else's with his well-rounded buffs to all your troops. He offers +attack, +defense, +initiative and +life, which means he'll be boosting pretty much every aspect of your troops. Which one you actually drop more points in is up to you and probably depends which army he's leading - his Life bonuses are much higher than Infantry heroes and only Support heroes get the Initiative boost at all, so his armies will tend to be faster and tougher than others. His attack and defense buffs are inferior to the other two types of hero, but he's much more well-rounded and levels faster than them anyway.

Personally, I'd climb the tree as fast as possible for the base skills, stopping to put 2-3 points into the passive XP per turn skill (No Idle Hands, especially if you're actually playing the Drakken race) and then head straight to Winter Operator. This'll mean your armies out-level your opponents like crazy. Then start filling out whichever of the bonuses best suit the army you're leading. Defense and Life for a tanky, defensive army like Broken Lords or Drakkenling-heavy Drakken forces, or Initiative and Attack for harder-hitting armies like Ardent Mages or Vaulters smiley: smile

EDIT: You can also get an extra 30% life from the faction tree using Battlesaur with only 3 points of investment, so you could get ridiculous levels of health for you army at high levels if both skills were taken.

Drakken are actually my preferred generals for Cult armies. The reason for that is that the support tree gets you the 4 reserve flag skill fast and that Drakken generals tend to have really nice capacities like Army Health Boost 3. The healing's nice too, but it's not the main reason for my choice.

Can't remember all of the skills, but my goal is 4 reserve flags ASAP, followed by travelling the tree to a health boost. The game is usually over before I ever level up the health boost, but whatever.

Since I like opening with tanks and having ranged enter from reserve, the Drakken general often leads an army of converts-- if they're cavalry, he gets a movement talisman, otherwise, he doesn't. Remaining spots are filled with insigina: glassteel and titanium at first, palladium when it becomes available.

I don´t see a problem in using them as governors, I probably play better the mp games I spawn on rivers and make Nachampassea governor when he gets to extra influence from district. Getting discount for buildings and unit production on turn 10, with the extra food, turns their capital into a monster. If I have military neighbors or I´m hoping for mid military game, I´ll go for the +30% extra health from Battlessaur and then Defense, Reinforcement, XP, Initiative and Full health trait.

I find it easier to progress with their quest having a governor too, and after you get to spheroid of drakken lore, levelling them to get the left hand side health bonuses is real fast.

This of course doesn´t work if you´re playing against competent rushers (:

edit: about quest items, no, you can equip as much as you want if you meet their requirements
