Yeah, but it wasn't Guardians that changed that (although I had to start prioritizing Cultists pretty heavily at that time), it was the vanilla patch accompanying Shadows.

Hello, what is "BL rush" ?

Rushing with Broken Lords in multiplayer. Previously a preferred tactic of a certain player...

Yeah, I kind of feel that Guardians has a larger effect on the game, but that Guardians is poorly balanced compared to Shadows. Guardians feels like more bang-for-your-buck, but I still prefer playing with Guardians disabled.

I'd recommend buying the base game, and then playing a few public multiplayer games. These games are almost always hosted by a player who has enabled both expansions. This should give you an idea about how the expansions play.

lol - dat unbeatable BL rush pre-guardians!!!!!!!!!

Bprado is 100% correct. Guardians drastically changes the game.....Shadows not as much but absolutely worth getting.

Well I would say that both DLC are pretty nice additions to the game but you should first play some vanilla games in my opinion before adding some complex mechanics such as legendary deeds or espionnage.

Hi, I haven't purchased endless legend yet (but im defiantly going to).

I have a few burning questions I cant seem to find the answer to.

1. How "custom" are the custom factions

2. Do the custom factions work in multiplayer? (This would sell it for me)

3. Which of the DLC's are worth it and which one is superior?

4. If I have a dlc my friend doesn't, can I disable it to play with him for a game?

5. How hard is it to play with mods in Multiplayer?

Thanks for your time!

No one seems to have mentioned this, but in case you were not aware, your friend can play with you, and if he does, he gains access to the DLC that you have active.

I don't see the point in comparing a game that is focused primarily on tactical gameplay and tactical / strategic spells with minimal empire management, with a game that is focused primarily on macro-management. Both being fantasy strategy games is a superficial point of similarity.

Endless Legend and Civilization are comparable, and there is a point to it, as is the case with Age of Wonders and Heroes of Might and Magic. Comparing Age of Wonders with Endless Legend is like comparing Sins of a Solar Empire with Endless Space, on the basis that they both are space 4x games. It doesn't work that way and there is no pertinence in comparing them as far as I am concerned.

EDIT: in any case, compare what you will. I simply wanted to add that nuance to the op who is undecided about the game, for them to realize the differences between the two and not base their decision on comparing them.

My opinion is that they are comparable in several ways, also I didnt say they were only comparable because of being both fantasy 4X but because of having alot of common points in the 4X system (expandi, explore, diplomacy..). They are totally different games, but still comparable in my sense. You think what you want sir but lets not spam more on this thread, right ? smiley: smile

And to conclude, a couple of thing adressed to the OP : just be warned that the learning curve can be quite brutal. I had no issues about it but I see alot of complains about the lack of informations and tutorials down here on the forums. Just be ready to struggle to fully understand the game smiley: stickouttongue

Im pretty sure that the game is better than ever in multiplayer with friend (single player is nice but... the AI needs alot of improvement, I think we all agree on that point... Still enjoyable a few hours though) so if you can get a friend to buy it with you, go on you wont be disapointed I think smiley: wink

I'm sorry, but Age of Wonders barely qualifies as a 4x and is not on the same level as Endless Legend in terms of macro-management, asymmetry, or immersion. I love Age of Wonders, but it's much more focused on combat and tactical play as opposed to empire management (barring race management which is decent), with simplistic economy and production, much less developed research and development, no commerce, less exploration, and even worse diplomacy.

So trying to compare the two is a bit meaningless, they are very different games. And there is little doubt that Endless Legend is the more full fledged 4x game of the two.

Age of Wonders 3 is a 4X, as you like or not smiley: smile

And that is my opinion, thats all.... Comparison was really often back at the day when we were debating about the date of release. They are really easily comparable in fact as they are the 2 major fantasy 4X existing and have several 4X in-common feature while being differents ^^

If you cant compare those 2, you cant compare anything in fact smiley: stickouttongue

Welcome to our community sir smiley: smile

1. Custom faction system is quite underdeveloped. Basicly its only changing the traits (and the name) of an existing faction

3. I still havent bought Shadows because I found the previews and the news brought to the game not worth 12 euroes but as I might buy it as soon as there is a sale on it. Also, I found the guardian DLC pretty cool.

2. Sure it does.

5. Much easier than in Civ 5 if that can answer your concern. You just need to have the same version of the mod and it should be alright.

I can't answer all your questions but I'll answer a couple.

3. Shadows is definitely more content heavy than Guardian, with a brand new faction and new gameplay mechanics such as pillaging, stealth, and espionage. I personally am not a fan of guardian and I disable it.

4. Yes you can disable whatever content you have.
