No Retreat Option in Battle - Your Units Die Without Knowing Your Chances Beforehand

Hello Folks,

I may be misunderstanding the Battle system: There is no retreat option, at times, when you want to understand the strength of an enemy army BEFORE going into battle:

You end up having to reboot the game and go back one turn, if you step into a battle where you find out you are going to lose, but there is no way to turn back; there is no retreat option.

Yet, in some battles, before they begin, and for which you also initiated, there IS a retreat button...What gives? Is it because the game is involving the Militia from a nearby town, and, therefore, there would be no place for them to "retreat" to?

Regards,

Marc

You can't retreat when you're the aggressor. You can only retreat when you're the defender.

Its pretty dumb isnt it ?

When you attack you are supposed to have the choice of atttacking or not, if the ennemy appears too strong...

The whole thing is a little bad. Because even if the game showed us what it believes to be the odds, it´s usually very wrong even on Autos, let alone manual battles.

Imo, if there is no efficient way to predict the outcomes yet (because this is really just a matter of fine tuning), then the game should just show a quick comparison between the average stats of the two armies and let the player do a better gut-math, which the player ends up having to do anyway. I don´t doubt every single experienced player completely ignores the current predictions.

I´m pretty sure the lack of an option to retreat on the offense comes from the fact that every player is omniscient regarding the composition of their competitor´s armies, as long as they´re within sight.
