Hello Folks,

Recall than when you are in Civ, you hover over the enemy hex, and the game informs you of your battle win outcome?

Is there an immediate method of knowing what your chances in battle are in EL?

Thanks for your help.

EL provides an estimation before the actual battle, where you get to pick between fighting manually or auto-resolve. But Afaik, this estimation is not very accurate.

Other than that, don.t think so ...

But, by then, it is already too late...You can't retreat, because you are the one initiating the battle.

There is NO retreat option. Therefore, the battle system is broken.

Knowing the enemy army composition should allow you to make an educated guess, on whether you should engage that army or run in the opposite direction.

When you click to attack the army, EL assumes that you made the guess. This is at least how I see it.

I agree. You can know everything you need to know, including stats of each unit. It's up to the player to estimate, compare with their own units and stats, and then decide whether to commit or not.

Here's the problem - if you have lots of one unit and the enemy has variety in his units you're probably going to get your ass handed to you regardless of the odds.

I've learned to start early on creating armies with 3 types of units.

While I don't think it's always necessary to have 3 types of units (Dekarian rangers and Tenei walkers / tank is a perfectly self-sufficient combo in most scenarios), it is generally true that variety is integral to EL. It is indeed to the game's credit that most units fill a key role, whether tactically or strategically, and are indispensable with very few exceptions (mostly the Shaman tbh).
