Will it be possible to play with all races in a single game? An huge map is already big enough for 9 factions and to be honest i don't understand why there isn't even an option to do that.

A smaller issue is about faction colors there are only 8 right now for 9 factions, and adding some more should be really easy to do.

I would like to see as many as 12 factions permitted to be in a game. Of both Endless Legend and Endless Space. I recall them saying, for E.S., 8 is the max the G.U.I. allows but more is theoretically possible. Hopefully they'll up the count in a future expansion for E.L. and from the beginning in E.S.2.

I recommend getting the palette expansion mod (easily found on steam workshop), it adds new colors.

Be mindful though that activating this mod disables achievements, something I learned to my chagrin after winning a diplomatic playthrough without being at war once.

EDIT: oh and I support allowing us to have 9 empires at once.

I don't have the exact figures, but the system requirements don't scale linearly with the number of empires (see here). The number 8 was chosen for UI reasons, yes, but also as a number that would work well on most machines from a performance stand-point and not be too high for players to keep track of. Since this decision was made early in development it's not something that is likely to be changed at this point I'm afraid: too many technological and game-design decisions are predicated on it.
