Does the xp decrease if you have cost reduction tech, era plan, hero traits?

I bought out every level 1 tech building the other day and my hero got 14xp for it?

How does this work exactly? Anyone?

My testing (which took less time than writing this message will) shows that empire plan reduction does lead to decreased experience gain by the governor.

Building nothing with a full garrison raised my governor from 80 xp to 88 xp.

With 33% production cost reduction, building a borough (282 Industry) raised my governor from 88 xp to 118 xp.

Without 33% production cost reduction, building a borough (420 Industry) raised my governor from 88 xp to 130 xp.

Buying out the same borough, with 33% production cost reduction and 25% buyout cost reduction, cost 1061 dust and raised my governor from 88 xp to 118 xp.

Assuming 8 xp/turn growth even without building anything, I'm getting about 0.08xp/industry spent.

Presumably other cost reductions work the same, and gain is proportional to the actual industry (not dust) consumed.

Tier 1 buildings, on fast, cost 38 Industry. With 33% production cost reduction, you should get 14 xp for buying out about 7 of them.

Interesting....so buyout cost reduction does not affect xp but production cost reduction does?

I wonder if this is actually intended or a bug. It's kind of a small penalty to those traits/techs.

What is the xp rate addition per unit in garrison?

Thanks for looking into it.....somehow I knew you would smiley: smile

Well, with a 6 strong garrison, my governor was gaining 8 xp per turn while building nothing. Just guessing, but that probably breaks down to 1/unit/turn with a 2/turn bonus for a full garrison. Not important enough to test, at least not until you start using extra punctuation marks at the end of every sentence smiley: smile

IIRC it's 1xp per turn base, plus 1xp per turn per unit in garrison. No idea about the values of construction -> xp, but I know you do get some from buying buildings out, all that matters is that the governor is in the city when the improvement passes through the build queue and is finished. It's an easy way to get xp on WW and Forgotten heroes: jump them to a new city before you buy out all the improvements, then move them along immediately after.

There is this in the ResourceConversionDefinition.xml, but I thought that was for xp-on-kill values for units. Maybe it's the same?

I don't think there's a bonus for a full garrison, but I seem to recall that you get XP for the militia (just like the "real" units).

I was wrong; militia in garrison do not give XP to the governor. But there's something in my current game that is giving an extra +1 XP per turn to some of my heroes. It wasn't there at the beginning of the game, and looking through my saves it looks like it gradually started affecting more and more of my governors. It doesn't seem to be related to the number of units in garrison (it stays there even if I create a new army and march all the units away from the city), and it doesn't appear to be related to any specific building (at least not to the military defense ones, which seemed like the obvious possibility). Not sure what's causing it.

Did you get the levelup upgrade that gives +XP per turn on those heroes?
