Random events feel more punishing than rewarding - is there any way to turn them off?

The two main ones I'm talking about are the Dust to Rust and Minor Faction, Major Pain, since those are based on completing an objective before the negative effects can be removed, and have pretty painful negative effects.



The problem is, it's quite often that the objective region appears on the other side of the map, and the AI doesn't seem to have any interest in ending the effects - I'd imagine this to be the same case in multiplayer as well, if you're in a position where it gives you an advantage by having it up.



As such, I feel like having such strong negative penalties not have a time limit gives a really unfair advantage to whatever player is closest to it, and it's entirely random what region it spawns in.



(As an aside, I also feel like the random events are a lot more negative than positive, the only positive ones I can recall deal with influence, which is not a priority for most of the factions, but I'm willing to put up with the negative ones because they have a time limit).



Is there any way to disable the random events from happening? I don't have an option to do it in the options screen.

The only way to remove them would be to mod them out, basically. smiley: smile
