Are they the strongest flier? I got them fairly early, and they are a multi-purpose unit that can tank, flag rush, shut down high damage ranged units - pretty much anything you can ask. I don't need Titans or Tenei Walkers (I play only Mezari or Wild Walkers) or MF tanks (or MF fliers obviously) or MF cavalry now.

Just awesome.

I think they are fantastic units-- probably ideal for any empire with sufficient industry and strategics.

The only thing is, they're not really good as Guardian killers. Guardians are still superior for the cost. Scythers are great as replacements for units after that, though. Provided you aren't banking T4 strats for a wonder victory.

I play only the 3 military victory conditions (only played Vaulters and Walkers, but when I play Roving Clans, I will probably mod out the can't declare war trait), so that's not an issue

Scythers are great and the only time I refrained from using them was as Forgotten because they lack the stealth trait. But I think there's a hero trait that makes all units led by him stealth whether they have this ability or not.
