Is Morale updated / recalculated in real-time, or only at the start of each round?

OK so I know this is a bit of a weird question, but essentially what I'm wondering about is a situation such as the following:

Say I have a clump archers all huddled together, so the ones in the middle are getting the full +6 Morale bonus due to adjacent friendly units. Now say that for my opening move, I order one of the archers in the middle of the clump to walk out into the open and attack an enemy unit. After I click the button to resolve combat for that round and my archer walks out into the open, what effective bonus is applied to it? Is it:

A. +0 Morale (no Attack or Defense bonus), since it currently is out in the open with no units nearby.

or

B. +6 Morale (+90% Attack and +90% Defense), since at the start of the round it had many friendly units nearby

Intuitively I would assume the case is A, however I have noticed that the little Morale icon displayed along the edge of your unit's hex tile in battle is only updated/changed at the start of each round, and remains the same during actual movement & attack / defending animations, implying the case is B. Now I could just look at the displayed Attack & Defense numbers during movement & attacking / defending animations, however I understand that in games like this, what is displayed does not necessarily accurately reflect what is going on "under the hood."

Does anybody happen to know more about this?

What happens is definitely B. Morale is determined at the start of the round, which makes positioning all the more decisive at the end of each round.
