I know and expect that the Major Factions to see and understand the regional borders and respect them as such. But this should not be applied to the Minor Factions when their village is converted by the Cultist.

I find it a bit humorous that a non state village of savages would know of regional borders let alone say, "oh dear, there is a border running right along the back of the village, bugger me. Alright all, remember only farm this side of the line because on the other side there be the boogie man!".

This should be rectified by either allowing the converted Minor Faction always provided the FIDS of all 6 adjacent tiles even when along the border or the map generation moving the Minor Factions off the regional borders.

As I understand it, regional borders are not artificial borders like we have in real life between countries. They are real borders, though passable, between realms of essentially different nature.

Some regions are sandy, or icy, or lush and these extreme differences are separated by nothing but this border, that only Auriga can explain, but everyone can experience.

I imagine creatures of a region to be a part of the local ecosystem: they feel good in home surroundings, they bond to the land, know the area and fear the world beyond. They wouldn't know what to do with the land of the neighboring region, as much as a wild animal wouldn't feel at home on a busy city street. If you organize them in a military, gear them up, pay them dust for their effort, they will adventure beyond their home. Otherwise they stay in the region, safe in their own kind of magic. (magic is not the right term, but the closest I can find at the moment)

At least that's my rationalization! ^_^

This is a purely gameplay limitation, as villages are considered to be cities in their own right. As such, they belong to a single region.

I understand the lack of a lore justification can be saddening, but it's the same sort of choice we made when we decided that we'd allow one city per region. smiley: smile

With respect to what Frogsquadron said, I still think a basic check could be added when generating the map and placing the minor faction villages, so that Cultists are not disadvantaged.

Just my humble opinion ...

I can agree with this. Simply do not bump the minor faction villages up against the regional borders. One tile away would be fine wherever possible.
