I originally posted this on the Steam EL newsgroup website. I didn't get many responses. So I am posting this here hoping for a better results.

If anyone from the company looks at this post, please excuse the lack of attached files and such. I have been collecting these questions and bugs for about 3 months and I only recently noticed your posting of what you would like to get with bug reports.

Thank you for your help.

1 - I thought I had a good handle on resource production, but maybe not. I was playing a game where I had 4 cities producing glasssteel. It was pretty late in the game and I had researched no technology to boost production. To be super clear, I had no bonuses from technology. The broken lords give a boost to gold production which is not a strategic resource. The Vaulters/Mezari give a bonus to strategic resource production (and triple your declared holy resource during winter). I was not playing the Mezari. Also, all my cities seemed to be producing extra so it was not heroes boosting production. This leads me to 2 questions.

1a - What other things can boost strategic resource production. I suspect it might have something to do with villages or technology levels but I am guessing. Does anybody know for sure and can they explain it?

1b - Also, in the situation I described when I look at a city using the city list screen and hovered the curser over the strategic resource it reported 4 production. Previously I had come to believe that was the production for that specific city. Yet when I go to the empire management screen and again hover my cursor over the same resource it reports 4. What am I seeing(or not seeing here)?

2 - I was wondering why given a choice would you select the hero skill "Ice in the Veins" over "Cold Operator"? I know you could get a defensive bonus if you develop the "Ice in the Veins" to level 2 but, it seems so much more limited in how it helps you compared to the "Cold Operator".

3 - Sometimes during negotiations where trade-able technologies are involved the screen shows me each technology listed twice with one group twice as expensive as the other. Of course I always select the cheaper version. I have run into this quite often. When you attempt to trade technologies with an opponent they offer you every available technology they have. First at one price and also at double the price. I don't remember which group is first on the list.

My only question here is, is this a bug or is there some logical reason for it that I am just missing?

4 - Backup issues. Sometimes when I restore a game from an auto saved game it appears to store some things that occured after when I assumed the save was made. For example:

I equip a hero during turn 10 lets say.

I start my next turn and I decide I want to go back to the beginning of turn 10.

I load the autosave from turn 10 and my hero has the equipment I put on him after the turn had begun.

How could this happen? I assume the auto save for a turn occurs before you can even do anything. Am I mistaken?

6 - While playing the Forgotten I discovered that I could move a group that all had stealth through my opponents territory even if he had used the diplomatic option to keep me out. The part I don't get is that there seemed to be some hexes I could move through and some not. I wasn't sure what was happening here, although I assumed it was related to their stealth ability. Can I get an explanation please?

Someone replied "while stealthed you can move anywhere, but you can't move into hexes that they have vision and where your army would be revealed." This is along the lines of what I expected. Is their any way to see where they can or cannot spot you? It's annoying to keep trying different directions until one works?

7 - I have noticed a strange behavior with the Cult's militia. At some point during the game their level will roll back to 1 and then starts working its way back up again. I can't say if this happens every game. I just wasn't paying close enough attention every time I played them. But I can say with certainty I have had it happen in more than 1 campaign playing them. I have never noticed this behavior with any other race. Has anyone else noticed this?

8 - In regards to the "Glorious Father" event, I have played several games where I am able to maintain an approval rating of 100 for a prolonged length of time and the computer later (sometimes much later) announces another player as the one who met the condition and gets the reward. What is happening here, is this a bug?

9 - What happens to extra resources when completing a building or researching something? If I have another build/technology behind the one that just completed does the remainder roll into the new item? What if I don't have a follow up building or research pending? By the way I am not referring to Strategic Resources. I know that if you cancel production on something that required SRs, they are lost.

10 - Somewhere along the way I got the idea that "Guardians" were unique. In fact to the best of my knowledge I have never been able to build more than 1 of each regardless of the Strategic Resources I had. The computer players appear to be able to build as many as they like. Is this a bug?

11 - Not really a question, but a useful, not immediately apparent aspect, of playing the Cultists. I did not realize this was possible until it happned by chance.

Did you know that the Cultists ability "High Seat of the Queen" allows them to build any distrcict to level 3, not just the central one? This includes special districts like the "Museum of Auriga". I did not realize this until I did it by accident.

12 - Sometimes when I am looking through the "Academy Screen" it will suddenly scroll to the left most hero in the list for no apparent reason. I think this is a bug to me. Has anybody else encountered this? Is it a known bug or a "feature" I am just not understanding?

13 - In regards to the "Marathon" quest, is the order you visit the villages relevant? If the answer is yes, how can you tell what the proper order is? Also, does the quest log offer any information as to how many (and which) villages you have visited. I could swear I completed this quest in a couple of games but I am having trouble in my latest game.

14 - I ran into a situation where I and an AI player were apparently completing the "Museum of Auriga" on the same turn. The game gave the build to the AI player.

14a - Does the AI player win all ties or is it random (or something else)?

14b - I tried loading the previous turn and using gold to buy the museum early. The computer would not allow me to do this. I don't remember the exact message but it said something like since the building was going to be completed next turn it would not allow me to buy it out. Is this correct?

15 - I was playing the Forgotten. There were several occasions where I had a spy in a city I was laying siege to. I know you cannot unassign a spy from a city that is under siege. I also know that you can get around this by removing the spy before you begin the siege. None the less their were occasions where I forgot I had a spy in a city I was laying siege to. When the siege was successfully completed I would get a message that my spy had succesfully left the city and returned. Immediately after this I would get a message that he was badly wounded and I would find him disabled for 20 turns in the hero screen. It seems like one of these messages is misleading or wrong. Am I correct?

16 - I researched "Advanced Quarry". In it's description it says that it works "on a district with a strategic tile". I found it worked for me on resources that were in a region with my city but they weren't exploited nor did they have a district built on them. Is the description incorrect, am I misunderstanding something, or is this a bug?

17 - Is there a way to see the "applied effects" infiltration is having on an empire (including your own)? The "Applied Effects" button does not show empire wide effects, I tried it.

18 - I only recently tried playing the Ardent Mages. I built an "Arcana of Matter" pillar that should have crossed a regional boundry. I had cities on either side of the border that were flush up against each other. The pillar only affected hexes on it's side of the boundary. Is this intentional or is it a bug?

19 - Again with the Ardent Mages I created an "Arcana of Matter" pillar on a city in winter. It only boosted production by 2 per hex. The description says it should be three in winter. I don't think it matters, but I had also built a "dust purifier". Is this a bug?

20 - On exactly which hexes does the lumber mill work? I originally thought it only worked with spaces that had the word "forest" in their name. The other day I discovered it works on palm trees. Can someone tell me exactly which tiles it works on?

21 - This is a very similair question to #20. On exactly what kind of tiles does the "Wild Walker" ability "Woodland Forager" work on?

22 - There seems to be a bug in some of the quests where you have to maintain some condition for a certain number of turns before it is complete. With some of these quests the turn timer does not start counting when you meet the required condition. Yet, if you wait a few turns and don't change anything it suddenly starts counting. One such case is the "Festival of Dust" where I have experienced this at least twice. The other one I noticed I don't remember the name of but, you have to keep a number of demons in a specific city for a specific number of turns where the number of demons needed is equal to your city capacity. Has anyone else run into this? Okay, someone replied that the Delver "Festival of Dust" quest has a known bug. What about the demon quest?

Thanks again.

I am sorry to say that but you seem to lazy to think for yourself, evident by your questions.

Or you are a very green grasshoper and new to 4x series - it's a long learning experience, don't expect to be spoonfed - google some answers next time.

Your time is as pricious as that of others!

a) more extractors in regions (the more regions colonized, the more extractors the more income)

perks of the Vaulter/Mezzari (holy resource in winter)

add minor faction "silics" to your assimilated minor faction (giving +0,5 strategic recource per extracor, 3 villages would mean 1,5 strategic resource extra - per extractor)

era IV tech "borer's guild"

b) not all regions produce all resources, resources are a defining factor of a region and make them less/more desireable for you. If yu have only 1 Region that produces a resource, then of cause you only have that much in the empire overview as well

Cold Operator is for cities (makes them immun against winter effects)

Ice in the Veins is for armies - the 2nd point in it is only situational usefull.

What happened to 5?

Else: screenshots + savegame as a bugreport in the right section (don't forget to mention version number, also remember the game must be unmodded.

If you click the army (and are not to far scrolled out) you see yellow eyes. That are the hexes you cannot enter without beeing seen. Quite obvious frankly.

What reveals you: standing next to any unit, Watchtower (2range), heroes with the trinket to see stealth units.

This shouldn't happen (except you loose your guard due to defence), else see 4)

First off: the deeds are not allways the same! Glorious father is "get 50 luxury good of each kind" or "be the first to reach 100 approval" - that includes approval at 100 in turn 12 ... yes the game remembers that.

You can check in the end game screen when the first one had the 100 approval. (no bug, your mistake)

The surplus is taken over. No need to que.

See 4 smiley: wink

But its possible to get multiple without a problem (f.e. Questreward)

It doesn't matter. Just visit each once. And no, it doesn't remember.

If you end your turn, the AI does it turn ahead of you, that includes finishing buildings.

The game states you you cannot do it and you ask if that is normal and okey? smiley: confused

Most of this is listed in the Wiki - go in it yourself and search for the answers, it will teach you a little.

F.e. the pillar boosts production, but winter still applies its malus onto the tile.

1.a+b additional info:

The ressource income differs by game speed.

3. Will look for in future games. Didn't see it before.

4. Seems to save when finishing turn

6. In addition: Upgraded watchtowers = more range

7. If militia dies in defense (engaging outside city as reinforcements up to 5 hexes in combats is possible, too), they are replaced by new ones.

9. You have to set the production the turn old production ends. You don't need to queue. Same with research. If you forget to queue up the round production end, the following turn it's lost.

Now I make a break. "To be continued" smiley: cool

10. I'm not sure, but I think I remember, you can have as much guardians, as you researched. That means, if you researched three different guardians, you can build up to three. If I'm not wrong, it doesn't matter which ones (i.e. 3xGios or any kind of mix from researched ones). But I didn't research guardians since a long time and could be wrong about.

11. Yeah, because they have only one city

12. Never happened to me

14.+14a A question for the DEVS I guess. I thought the one with the bigger production in finishing turn should get it. In multiplayer people said, it's always the host that gets building first. Not sure about that.

14b. The thing is, if you got only one turn to finish building (or whatever), you can't buy it out no more. It's going to be finished the following turn - if you buy it or produce - the result is same.. You should have reloaded two turns ago and buy it.

First off, I don't think I have ever gotten a ruder response to a question or questions that didn't include cursing. If you thought my questions were really so inane you shouldn't have bothered answering them. Despite this I am going to try and not reply to you like you did to me. After all maybe you have Asperger's Syndrome or some other condition that makes it difficult to communicate normally with people. Then again, I have never dealt with an internet troll before, is this what I am experiencing with your reply?

Second, there really seems to have been a problem with you understanding the questions. I don't know what happened. I see you are posting from Germany, maybe English is a second language for you? The attitude you exhibit while offering answers is almost palpable. Perhaps it was that you had already decided that my questions were ignorant or beneath you so you simply decided to gloss over them rather than actually try and understand them. I thought they were clearly written. I included as many possible conditions that might affect the question that I could think of with the question. I am sure I left out some information because I thought it was glaringly obvious to the person reading the question. I also am human and I may have mistakenly not have covered every imaginable possibility in my question that someone else might have noticed. I don't think any of this necessitates ridicule be used in a reply.

To expand on my second point, for some of the questions it appears you ignored or did not understand parts of what I wrote. Your answers don't make sense when you read the whole question. I looked over the questions again just to make sure I hadn't left something out or phrased it poorly. I couldn't find one where that was the case. I could think of several possibilities as to why you didn't understand on top of the ones I already mentioned but I would rather not be insulting.

I am going to move on to your answers now.

1a. You mention having more extractors. This struck me as so obvious that even a new player would know it so I did not include it in the question. Maybe this comes back to your attitude towards me. You had made your assumption that I was either lazy or unintelligent so you included it. You mention the Vaulters/Mezari bonuses, but I specifically ruled them out in my question. Since I ruled them out, I'm not sure why you mentioned them. You mention the Silics. That is true, I forgot to include ruling them out in my question. Had you asked I would have told you I wasn't playing them either, but you didn't bother to ask. You mention the Borer's Guild. I state more than once in my question that I had no technologies to boost production. I could have been a little more specific and referred to strategic resource production throughout the question. Looking at your answer, that didn't seem to be a problem. I also excluded heroes that might boost srp. Although now that I think about it I can't think of any that do this, so you were right to ignore this.

So in summation, how did your answer help. You added the Silics which I admittedly forgot about. You didn't include heroes which I was mistaken in mentioning. Other than that you talked about something that was so obvious I did not think it needed to be included or you repeated things I had already excluded in my question. Again if you read my question more carefully I specify "other things" that change production than those I already mentioned. I also mention a couple of other possibilities that you simply don't reply to. Mostly you wasted time typing information that I already knew and had ruled out in my question. If you had simply taken a few more seconds to read the question more carefully you could have saved some time and typing.

1b. Okay here is one of those cases where your answer has nothing to do with my question. I was very specific in my description of the situation. I don't know whose question you are answering, but it certainly wasn't mine.

In both these cases the only possibilities I can see is: you either didn't understand the question or, you didn't take the time to read and comprehend the whole question.

2. I did not know that cold operator doesn't help in combat. You state that it is for cities. The description says "no negative effects from winter". In this case at least part of your answer is either incorrect or incomplete. With that in mind I am suspicious of the other part of your answer. To clarify, I am certain that cold operator allows your heroes to move full speed on the map during winter time. I don't see how that is a function that helps you in cities, it clearly falls into another category. I admit I don't know if Ice in the Veins likewise helps you with map movement, I have not used it in a long time. If it does not, that strikes me as a very important difference. As far as combat goes you could be right, I'm not certain. I agree and understand that Ice in the Veins helps you in combat. What I would like to know is how did you decide that cold operator does not? Reading the description the game provides I don't see why it wouldn't also help in combat. If you have personally tried it, or you have read some further description offered outside the game I would like to know what it was. If cold operator works the way you describe it they should probably change the description to read "no negative effects from winter, except during combat", that would be much clearer and would require very little effort. Regardless, I don't grasp how my question was lazy or ignorant. If what you say is true, the ability needs a better description.

After question 4 you write:

What happened to 5?

Else: screenshots + savegame as a bugreport in the right section (don't forget to mention version number, also remember the game must be unmodded.

I am sorry the questions had a gap in the numerical order. You found a typo, amazing, so glad you pointed it out.

I don't see how it affects the questions. Is this another one of those aspects of my questions that makes you believe I am lazy or dumb? Maybe I am wrong, but I think most people if they noticed this would realize it was most likely a typo and simply ignore it.

As for the second part of your reply, near the top of the document I offer an apology to any employees who come across my document and see that I didn't include any other attachments that they ask for on their site. I state that I have been collecting these questions and bugs for a few months and I only found their directions for reporting bugs recently so there are no such files. So why exactly are you telling me this? If you paid any attention while reading my posting you should have seen this. Again I ask, since you must have somehow either missed or not understood me, is this another reason you decided it was okay to be so snide in you responses?

6. Now this was one of my favorite replies from you. You actually answer the question this time, as it is written. Congratulations! But, you then follow it up with a thoughtless, obnoxious remark. I guess that's back to normal for you. Since you seem to be unable to consider any possibilities outside your own simple thoughts let me help you out here. Your remark was "Quite obvious frankly." again implying stupidity or laziness on my part. You probably don't realize it but not everyone has the same vision. Some people need glasses, other people might be colorblind. Sometimes there is nothing they can do to improve their vision but for instance they might decide they would like to play a computer game they heard about. If someone asked me a similar question and I could help them I would most likely do so minus the rude remark because I don't know who they are or what their situation is and I would think it rather insulting to make such a remark out of ignorance. But to quote something I recently read this is "Quite obvious frankly.". I mean after all, who would be dumb enough to write something like that to a complete stranger? Oops, sorry, I did say I wasn't going to take the low road like some other people. I just couldn't help myself.

7. You caught me off guard, a normal answer, on point. No insults implied or otherwise. This must have been tough for you. To offer some more details, to the best of my knowledge there are no special circumstances of any kind. Since I don't keep an eye on the level of my militia every turn I cannot be absolutely certain of this. It just rolls back to 1 at some point. I haven't played the Cultists in a while but if I remember correctly there was even a game I played where it happened more than once.

Once again, call me dumb(after all why keep implying it, just say it), but I don't see how this question/complaint comes across as lazy on my part. I didn't see any other postings about it. You apparently agree that if what I am seeing is correct it is a bug. So tell me please, what is lazy about this question?

8. Here we have another of your gems. You never actually say it, but your whole reply radiates the thought that I must be some kind of idiot for asking this question. You wrote:

First off: the deeds are not allways the same! Glorious father is "get 50 luxury good of each kind" or "be the first to reach 100 approval" - that includes approval at 100 in turn 12 ... yes the game remembers that.

You can check in the end game screen when the first one had the 100 approval. (no bug, your mistake)

My response is as follows. Currently according to Steam I have played about 680 hours to date. You write that "deeds are not always the same!". Perhaps I am misreading it, but I think your exclamation mark here is supposed to indicate that this is obvious and I must be an idiot. But I am open to possibilities. If you meant something else let me know. In the time I have played I have never seen Glorious Father pop up for any reason except reaching 100 approval. Is it theoretically possible that somewhere along the way it popped up for luxury goods and I somehow missed it? I'm human, it could have happened. But I can tell you it must have been a very rare occurrence or I am confidant I would have spotted it along the way. Also, are you aware of any other deeds that come with different objectives. I can't think of any off of the top of my head.

In addition there have been at least a couple of occasions where I have gotten to 100 approval very quickly. For instance I might start on hexes where there were 2 morale boosters within my city as soon as it was built. I followed this by building city sewers as my second building reaching 100 approval. Are their ways an AI player could have still beat me to it? I guess so. I would ask, does the computer ever build sewers as their first building? Does it ever start with buildings already built because of the difficulty level? Is there another possibility I am not considering? All possible. Yet none of them seem very likely to me. If you keep all this in mind, once again I don't see anything lazy or stupid about my question.

9. You must be playing games with me. Another normal, useful answer. Are you just getting tired or something?

I just want to be crystal clear on this. If I finish building something in my queue(construction or research) and I have nothing queued behind it any leftover points will still be used for the next item I build/research as long as it is the same turn?

10. My goodness, 2 useful, non-obnoxious answers in a row, something must be wrong!

Looking at your reply and someone else's answer I am wondering whether I was clear enough in my question. Please allow me to re-phrase it so I am sure I understand the answers. Please show some patience here, I am not quite certain how to explain exactly the information I am looking for.

If I research all 5 types of guardians and assuming I have an unlimited supply of every resource I could need:

Can I make more than 5 guardians total?

Could I make more than 1 guardian of a given type (i.e. More than 1 guardian of earth)?

You mention a quest reward. Are you referring to a quest reward where you gain the skill to build a specific type of guardian? If so, that isn't what I am referring to. I am talking about building multiple guardians of a specific type. Could you please clarify your answer?

13. Okay, that doesn't seem to match the behavior I have been seeing. I am going to have to pay very close attention to this quest the next time it shows up.

14. You wrote:

If you end your turn, the AI does it turn ahead of you, that includes finishing buildings.

The game states you you cannot do it and you ask if that is normal and okey?

The first line answers my question. The second line is once again just plain obnoxious, the implication being again that I must be mentally slow or something.

In conclusion. Generally, what I saw in your responses was either an inability to understand the questions or you were simply reading them lazily. As for your personal comments implied or explicit towards me, you might want to take a look in the mirror, they often say more about the person saying them then the person they are directed at. Are you really so limited in your ability to imagine that other people may think about something differently than you, or see something from a different view point that you find a need to insult them? Something that might be obvious to you may be a complete mystery to someone else, that doesn't make them a moron. And if you haven't experienced it already I can say with great confidence that even if you are one of the smartest people in the world it will happen to you some day. You come across as so insensitive and needlessly rude I don't know if you would even realize it if it did. I have almost certainly wasted a lot more time responding to you then I should have. I have never met you, yet I doubt you have the ability to learn anything about yourself from this exchange.

You know what? Thinking about it, just don't respond at all. Do me a favor, if you happen to see me post again don't respond. I would rather stay in the dark then read such obnoxious and condescending (and often wrong)answers, anyway I would hate for you to waste your precious time on me. Just don't. We will both be happier for it.

Hello,

First, thank you for your reply. This is my first posting on this group. I received 1 reply ahead of yours and the author was pretty consistently rude and obnoxious. In fact I am not sure why he even replied to me if he thought so little of me. Could this have been my first troll experience? Sorry, you didn't need to read most of this.

In regards to your answers:

1. Good answer, I didn't think of that. Unfortunately, unless I have been changing the game speed without realizing it every game has been played at the same speed.

3. It's pretty peculiar, but I have seen it pretty routinely. To try to describe it even more clearly, all of the technologies they have for trade will be listed one after the other at one price, immediately after this will be the same list of technologies at a lower price. I think it is half of the prices above it, but I am not a 100% certain on that. I will have to pay closer attention.

4. I guess I didn't have any particular reason to assume it, but I was under the impression it happened at the start of your turn before you could do anything. The behavior I described doesn't really match either of our choices. I will have to remember to save the game files the next time I catch this.

6. Okay. The person who replied prior to you actually had a good answer for this one. Apparently if you click on the stealthy army little yellow eyes show up telling you where your opponent can see. I haven't had a chance to look for myself yet. By the way he also implied that I must be an idiot for not seeing this. The idea that not everyone has the same vision, or that some people may be color blind didn't apparently occur to him.

7. No, no one died. It seemed to just happen for no rhyme or reason I could see. In fact in one game I played I realized it happened more than once. Like you suggested I thought there must be something triggering this behavior, but I didn't spot anything.

9. Okay thanks, that's exactly what the other person said.

10. Hmmm. I wish I had looked at your answers before responding to the other person. One more reason for him to look down at me, oh well. I don't think I ever tried to make 2 of the same Guardians in a row. I always seemed to either have another one in research or it was my last one. I will have to give this a try.

11. This wasn't really a question. I thought it might be useful information to a new player since I did not initially realize it either.

12. Okay. I will have to see how other people respond. It happens quite often actually. And, much like the Cult militia problem I haven't been able to pin down what might be triggering it.

14.a. If the last responder was correct he said the AI players always build before you. I don't necessarily trust everything he wrote though. So I will reserve judgement on this until I hear from a couple of more people.

14.b. Okay. Also, I couldn't buy it 2 turns before because I didn't have the money. I might have been able to do it if I sold a unit or 2 but this was pretty early in the game, I don't know how wise that would have been.

Once again, thanks for responding, take it easy.

Hi Ykroon 132 !

Don't bother about the "sidekicks"from Saranea. Psychologically I would guess, he/she was a little upset about the collected quantity of questions, collected over months. It's really much you push out in one thread. Would have been better to "dose/split" a little bit. So it's some kind of work to read and answer, lead by the will to help, if possible. And it seems Saranea wanted to help you in some way. O.k., not nice comments, you are right about. For me it was in some kind same, concerning last questions unanswered. My ingame language is not english, so I'm sorry about not answering. I don't managed to identify buildings for my language easily (not your fault). So I guess you'll find threads here about (you know, search function and no: I don't want to troll you, don't misunderstand me) to get your questions answered. Perhaps some "crack" will read it and is going to answer here. I would possibly make new thread in gameplay section, to get the answers soon. And anyone who read your questions would think you are dumb. Well thought and formulated ones. Just for to fullfill your general (!)impressions for EL I would recommend you to read the following guide from Jojo_Fr in steam:

Around there, you'll find more really interesting game guides !! Have a nice weekend !! You both!!!

Hey, ykroon132! Welcome to the forums and community! smiley: smile Hope you are enjoying the game.

Well, I admit that my approach towards such a wall of test is also close to TL;DR. Rather than treating this post as another "newbie bashing" (we all were newbies and we all still learn), try to take it as a constructive feedback:

Splitting similar questions in dfferent threads might be a more efficient strat for getting an answer (that is your goal, right?). Even if someone would answer only Chosen Few questions (sorry, could not resist the pun :P ), they might be dismissed by the amount of characters in post.

Let me share my way of learning EL. To start with, I was learning the game for 3 weeks before I got a mild grip over what was happening in this 4x (to me it originally meant "4 times too much information at once, 4 times too many things to do, 4 times too many techs, 4 times too many possibilities). I was playing a match after a match, mass reading Reddit, wikis, these forums, some guide sites (google really spits out a lot of relevant results!), watching youtube gameplays (a 4x isn't the most entertaining thing to watch, even on Fast game speed...) - I recommend PANCZASU and tectoss's videos there for educational value, they explain a lot of things and go through all the factions.

Also, I agree that everyone's time is valuable :P This doesn't mean that you should never ask a question, neither that we should answer all of the immediately. It's nice to restate the demand to be treated respectfully, responding with camouflaged hurtful comments not so much (don't count on me pointing them out).

Also, you can specifically start matches just for playtests - I realize that EL is not the easiest game to do science in, but that's the way all of us were learning, aside from digging in .xml files. Playtesting way of learning has also this side effect that YOU become a master regarding that particular matter - and might help the others! smiley: smile This also changes your midset from relying solely on "better players" into "I can actually do it myself. I have influence over my learning process and results!"

ykroon132 asked for help towards specific matter, so let's keep the thread about helping him and not derive into attacking (OR defending) one another. If you guys or gals feel offended there are several people in Forums that can actually react successfully if PMed (Frogsquadron comes to my mind). Sorry if my post inspired you to any warlike behaviour.

Hello Grzemek,

I hear you. But I did have some rational reasons for my posting. I am sorry if it was too long.

I don't post to any forums very often, so if there are unstated rules of etiquette as to how to post I was completely unaware of them. I am an older gamer and I am used to figuring things out for myself. This is the main reason I didn't post my questions piece-meal over a few months. I kept hoping the answers would become apparent to me as I played. In fact to some degree this was true. I had some questions that answered themselves as I played, obviously I did not post these. In regards to the length. I worked for several years as a computer programmer. In that position I found one of the most frustrating aspects was dealing with project specifications that were incomplete or short sighted. It often created what seemed to me to be a lot of unnecessary work. One of the results of this is that when I pose questions to others I try to be as comprehensive as I can. This probably makes some of my questions seem long winded to some people.

As for Saranea my best response might have been to not respond. I am not used to strangers attacking me for what seems no good reason (and I am not sure I want to). I have come to believe that not everything about electronic communication is positive. People often say things they would never say if the person was in front of them. Some people are completely oblivious to the shortcomings of this medium and this is reflected in their postings. I offer the possibility that Saranea might be such a person.

Saranea chose to make several assumptions about me after reading a single post. He has never met me, he knows nothing about me in any way. He read one post and thought he had enough information and reason to post an insulting reply.

Had I been in his position, even if I arrived at the same conclusion about someone as he apparently did about me I think I would have handled it very differently. The approach he took in responding was just about the worst possible. Unfortunately I allowed this to make me a little bit angry and thus the sarcasm in my response to him. I know better. If someone is apparently as ignorant and rude as Saranea demonstrated in his communication with me, it is probably best to simply not respond. Their communication clearly demonstrates that they are very unlikely to learn anything from your response so why waste the time responding?

In regard to your suggestions, thank you. I will keep them in mind in the future. You did use a couple of abbreviations I don't know the meaning of. What does "TL;DR" stand for?

Thank you.
