Hey everyone. Real quick question here: how do we acquire pearls in the new expansion? I've got some on an exploitation in my empire, but still cannot build the altar.



Any help here would be great.

You can get pearls by exploring ruins and by collecting them on world map (land/water). They spawn/respawn in winter.



Edit: Not sure, if exploring ruins gives pearls to other factions than Allayi !!!

Only the Allayi can get pearls from ruins.



Each winter, pearls will spawn on the map, on land and sea. You will not see them in the fog of war, so it's good to have an army or unit scouting for pearls and picking them up, in or after winter. In my experience, pearls will always spawn on the same place. I don't know yet what happens when you let them be but theoretically each winter should add more pearls to the same spot. Bigger amounts of pearls are represented by bigger floating orbs on the map. If you have trouble seeing them, try to zoom out. Pearl stacks will be represented by a white circle with one or more dots.



Not confirmed, but it does seem the larger stacks of pearls often form on anomalies.

As Allayi (and everyone else), you want to be collecting pearls while having 'Auriga Affinity' as it increases the amount of pearls you get as well as the exp (Auriga Affinity 3 grants 3 exp per pearl, which is quite good). Only the Allayi have access to Auriga Affinity innately, but other factions can equip a talisman on their heroes granting them Auriga Affinity 3. An interesting tactic would be to equip that talisman on a Forgotten hero, in order to bypass closed borders.



When playing as the Allayi, I have a dedicated Allayi hero pearl collector / pearl builder, equipped with the talisman so I focus on acquiring Zealous hands (20%/20% pearl cost reduction on buildings).

I can confirm stacks of pearls will grow each winter. I had a stack of 10 (!) pearls next to my capital and decided to wait for winter. In winter it was increased to sixteen. Right now training a Skyfin unit to pick it up, to get the 20 pearls achievement (Skyfin's ability will add +20%, making it 19.2... hmm maybe get my hero with the pearl collector attribute). smiley: smile

While I have no complaint with them growing over each winter, I would have thought that Amplitude would have made their spawning sites completely random every winter.

In terms of lore, the pearls are Auriga's blood, bleeding out of her wounds. So their spawning points are literal wounds on the planet.
