In the Colossal Danger quest, you can divert Skoros from attacking your city to instead attack a rival.

As per the quest description: "The Guardian heading for [your capital] can be defeated in battle; it can also be redirected towards another empire if you activate 2 Titan Bones boosters."

The Guardian appeared far enough away from my capital that I was able to activate 2 Titan Bones boosters one after the other - rather than activating the 2nd booster immediately after the first.

It worked! Skoros did turn away from my capital and headed another direction.

Unfortunately, it only worked partly, because he laid siege to one of my other cities instead of another empire.

Bug? Or as per intended?

EDIT: FYI. I managed to kill Skoros and so continued with the game.
