Mowgar Volcanic start position

Hi all


I was wondering if I am missing something but I have started a few games with the Mowgar since the Inferno release and each time I have spawned on Volcanic terrain.


Is this a good start for them? is it meant to give a huge production bonus or something?


So far I have had to move to a new location each time because I am getting 0 food due to the volcanic terrain.   Am I just being unluccky with my spawns or am I missing the reason why I am starting there?

I don't think that's normal, especially since the update alongside the expansion made sure factions prioritized better spawn locations for factions with a preference. Curious to see how many games this happened in, and if anybody else experienced it?

I had 5 games with Morgawr present (as AI but that shoudn't change anything) and they didn't spawn in a volcanic region. My guess is that you were just unlucky. This was with the default parameters for world generation and no mods.

It might be trying to spawn me near fortresses rather than a good fidsi as I had standard spawn and something like 70% land.  


I found out after moving that there were no fortresess near where I settled.


But maybe its like CeltiK said maybe I have been unlucky

We identified a while back that they were interpreting inland water just as attractive as oceans are for them, this broke the spawning logic often causing them to show up in the middle of a continent as long as the region had lakes, we fixed this issue but it might have been after version 1.6.4 which is the current latest live version, results should improve on the next upcoming patch.

Havin had a look at the spawn logic myself as far as I can see (in 1.6.4) only the Kapaki get a "special treatment" that basically ensures them to have a volcanic start, other races are treated as before - which can lead to undesirable results. My next Community Patch will give Cultists and Morgawr a similar treatment - but it seems like NGD will probably do the same anyway ;).
