This came to mind from a description of a pearl created item, the "Skull of the Ice Drakken. Its description says it was formed in the image of a ancient allayi enemy, this has to be the drakken species, for while it is the skull of a ice drakken, we have only seen 1 in E.L which is Namkang. Due to such rarity of ice drakkens, it is safe to assume the allayi consider the drakken as a whole, to be their ancient enemy. So who would win if the 2 sides fought in a war that can only result in the destruction of one or the other.

My vote would have to be the drakken, While the Allayi are more connected to the planet, Their traits of "we the chosen few" implies that the Allayi have less numbers in population than the drakken, and their strengths lay in the coming of winter, which comes every so often, the drakken don't have such a weakness in having to wait for each winter to arrive, and ontop of that, it is said in the drakken intro itself that the endless came and uplifted the Drakken, giving them a advantage that few other factions have in the game. Despite the Allayi being the lovable fluffy creatures we've come to know. I will have to vote for the dragon/humanoid hybrids of the Drakken.

But which side do you think would win, do my reasons sound reasonable, or is there a way for the allayi to defeat the drakken?

Winter Allayi would give them a run for their money, those stat boosts when everyone else is at their weakest is brutal.

Indeed, but that would have to depend on the timing, if the war happens in the winter, it can be safe to assume the drakken will have to be on the defensive, but if the war happens outside of winter, the allayi would be pushed back quite hard. it also depends heavily on how long winter is or how often it happens.

Yeah, so its just a big fat "it depends"

The deeper into the cycle of winters things get the greater advantage the Allayi have as they become longer and harsher.

But the Allayi are also relatively effective on the defensive during summer, and the powers of the Skyfin are an equalizer in both summer and winter, morale boosts are surprisingly powerful.

The Allayi are few but they are powerful, so the numbers of the Drakken, or any other faction don't count for as much.

There's also the matter of the fact that the Drakken aren't warlike, they don't like war and conquest they want to unite Auriga under a single united banner, not that they wont declare war but still. So if there were to be a war between the Allayi and Drakken, it would be more likely to be initiated by the Allayi, unless they do something to aggravate the Drakken, which could be any number of things, but still, war is more likely to be on the Allayi's terms, either because the Drakken have to sail from their home islands to assault the Allayi Garths to the south or it'll be during the winter. The air power of the Drakken is also not as much of an advantage against the Allayi as it is against other factions since the Allayi have flyers of their own, so when assaulting the Drakken's spires the verticality of their cities is not as much of a hindrance. But again, as implied by the trait "We chosen few" they aren't the most numerically superior faction.

At the same time while their cities are small and few in number they're very well defended and supplied, the inner districts would be a nightmare to assault with the bonus fortifications and plenty of resources that they produce and maintain.

All in all I don't think that the Allayi and Drakken would particularly want to fight each other, ancient enemies or no and if they do come to blows they'd have to make quite a round trip to get at each other, the Draken living on an island t the east and the Allayi to the south-west, with the Ardent Mages, Morgwar and Wild Walkers between them (based on the new map).

true they would most likely keep a peaceful yet tense relationship, but i made the poll on a what if scenario, what if the drakken and allayi did declare war, from either the allayi destroying or desecrating endless relics, something that has been known to outrage drakken off as seen in their hero bios, or if the allayi consider the Drakken as growing to much of a threat to Auriga itself. no other faction enters the war, just the 2, factions, and the territory they appear to have or atleast spawn in.

in terms of land, the drakken have more resources to deal with, having a bigger island than the allayi gives them more land for more cities and more cities provides more industry, food, science and dust, 4 key factors in a war, the allayi's land ontop of their "we the chosen few" trait, basically gives them at most 2 cities maybe 3 if stretched. this leaves the allayi with a major resource disadvantage, unless they can gain a foothold in drakken territory, the allayi would not be able to launch a major attack on the drakken, and thats if they won the war at sea.

speaking of sea warfare, which is the most interesting part, for while the allayi do have benefits in the winter, im not sure if the same benefits are applied to their naval ships, which are the same generic units between all factions. This is where the fate of the war will be determined, in order to safely cross the water, you need to be the dominant force in it, which is where the drakken most likely will be. This calls back to the land and resources topic, the more industry from more cities, the faster ships are able to be built and the greater the quantity of ships. While the allayi may have a advantage in land combat, what use is it if they cant get across to fight on land. From what i can tell from the map, the drakken will take the seas, the greater amount of industry leads to them having the stronger navy, and they destroy the allayi navy, allowing them to cross their armies to allayi land without sacrificing the safety of their own land. In short, the drakken will have the upperhand in the war.
