How do YOU think Endless Legend fits in with Dungeon of the Endless and Endless Space?

How can fantasy be in the same universe as sci-fi? Maybe it has something to do with time warps and alternate dimensions, I don't know.

We know that the ship "Success" from DotE landed on the planet which EL is set on, Auriga. The blue lights which you power with dust in DotE may have something to do with the blue light in the art for EL.

I made this in Paint: As you can see there is a lot of blue "dust" light, and the "people" seem to be powered by dust, and are possibly androids with Endless souls.

Yes, I'm pretty sure that's it.

Yeah me too the first symptoms of the slow destruction of Auriga were probably the extrem winters.

Seems like all races but the Vaulters were extinct in the end.

but not necessarily

it could also be possible that Auriga slowly recovered and the Vaulters on Auriga are only a seperated enclave which survived after a crash landing and lost most of their technology and knowlwedge over the centuries in their *Vault*

but yeah before ES sounds more logical.

Also, the fact that Auriga is considered legendary in the time of ES suggests EL is a prequel.

That said, maybe there's some awful, Groundhog Day (Groundhog Eon?) style time loop. smiley: confused

Yeah legendary probably cause the Vaulters see that formely lost Planet as their Origin.

Well the Vaulters when on Auriga for a while before it got too harsh with the winters - I think - so maybe its an abandoned Vaulter complex with old architecture or maybe it is not so abandoned, maybe it seems that way because they are on the "lowest" level... who is living there now, upstairs. There's enough creatures to assume someone is trying to live on Auriga... or at least underneath it. FOr all they know they are in the basement of a civilization upstairs. Of course, they are the first explorers and pioneers on Success for this Auriga... convicts, guards, explorers, adventure seekers... most dead because of the defense network deciding to make their day real bad, the fact the network activated when they arrived to make planet-fall makes me assume they are the "first" to try to land on the planet anyway.

Other ships may have attempted to land. Though would not likely to have been successful. There may be a whole village (or graveyard) full of ships crews that happened to stumble on the lost planet smiley: stickouttongue.

I really don't see a problem with sci-fi and fantasy being together. Even in fantasy world, technology grows. They may or may not be equal. In Endless Space, there is not much closure to common folk. For what I know, they all can be werewolves.

Also, it can be both before and after Endless Space, as planet terraforming is a possibility smiley: wink

I might not be an ES vet, but from the research I've done for all the games EL takes place hundreds of years before ES. In EL there is a a method of winning a match as Vaulters by finding a long lost crashed space ship, reactivating it and taking off into outer space. Lore wise these vaulters that find the ship and take off into the deep black are the ancestors of the Vaulters we see now in ES.

Dust has been said to have psuedo-magical powers even in the era of Endless Space. Anything that seems magical is probably the result of Dust or highly advanced Endless technology. "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."

Also lore wise, in ES, the Vaulters who took off in that spaceship rescued Opbot from Auriga (and he is a recruitable hero). Opbot is the medical droid, part of the crew that crashes on Auriga in DotE. So that would suggest that in chronological order the ship crashes on Auriga in DotE, then the Vaulters leave Auriga in EL and only then do the events in ES take place.

How can they coexist?

Well, here are my toughs:

- About races: In earth we humans were not alone. At some point we shared our planet with other sentient species like the neanderthal. Maybe the same happened in auriga. Maybe the elves and other races are just names of alien species native to auriga. Eventualy the humans (vaulters) emerged victorious as the only race, hence the vaulter faction in ES.

- About magic: Quoting Arthur C. Clarke: "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic". In DOTE we know that the humans that crashed (the vaulters) discovered technology from the endless. Let's remember that endless technology is uberly advanced and that after years and years the vaulters just forgot their origins (as happened to us, since no tribe, no people remember their origins, they only have myths) and started to see this super advanced technology as magic.

From how i get it, EL is a prequal to ES and a sequal to DotE.

The wiki (yeah i know, wikis and reliable information) lists the vaulters as a faction in EL even tho i find it just a tad odd that they changed so little over such a long period of time.

Also dust alters evolution and biology in weird ways. So i assume thats the reasoning behind the outlandish number of different sentient species on one planet.

Alternativeley, i can see EL running shortly before ES. Afterall, we know that DotE happened a long time before ES, so by the time of ES, EL could have just concludet, or going on and the whole "barren planet" could be retconned (tho that would be a bit lame).

We also know that the civilizations in EL will be going through a time of early metal age to near future.

Means that a potential sequal to ES could feature one or several Factions originally based on Auriga, as the descendants of the Player controlled factions in EL.

I mean, they could be hanging around, having left Auriga after its destruction (which happened at least 2 times in the backstory already)

Hell, considering the Vaulters Faction was addet alongside DotE, i can see them adding more factions to ES when EL is released, based on the EL factions that could have potentialy won the game and gotten off the planet to form a spacefaring civilization.

which would be hella cool..

the Alternative beeing that the Vaulters are the "canonical" surviving factions and the other EL factions will get shafted, which would be a shame.
