is the move of units going to be in any direction per turn or like endless space?

would prefer the endless space way with bottlenecks at worm holes etc until you research the needed tech

aka research tech for certain types of units to cross certain types of terrain?

or will this/can this be put to a G2G Vote?

I would like to see another *whormhole* free system, the current is just to beneficial for science races wich rushes the tech and expand into the middle.

I do think certain races should have different movement penalties for rough terrain. Summer races would have a hard time moving over glaciers and winter races would find swamp movement difficult.

There will be e.g. flying units and the elevation of the terrain is supposed to make for impassable stretches of land to anything but flying units.

The creation of units

Endless Legend lets you produce and take control of armies that are made up of one of five different types of combat units. Each type of unit has an advantage over any other type of unit. Mounted are excellent against melee, which are very good against ranged, who are very good against flying units, which are very good against mounted troops. Support units are basically bonus units whose primary role is to strengthen or reinforce other types of units.

On the other hand, I really don't expect the biomes to have complete ES-like one-way accesses. As the combat is supposed to happen in the terrain itself, you should still be able to put your army in a narrow spot to safeguard your land, though.

Also, there should be some stretches of water around.

I could certainly see sailing ships, dirigibles, domesticated flying mounts, burrowing tech, etc. as prerequisite technologies to crossing certain terrain. A direct wormhole analog wouldn't make a whole lot of sense though.

There are no tunneled slipgates on Auriga. smiley: wink

There may be some teleporting units but I can't imagine they would open up otherwise inaccessible landmasses.

From the other side, I found interesting the point of having to left minor faction in other to take another, as that adds decision and complexity to the game.

The Endless Space way of movement never appealed to me, and for this game I can't see any benefits of that way of doing it at all. Also remember battle will resolve over many tiles.

Instead of having impenetrable terrain types (mountains don't count since you can fly over them), there could be terrain types that slow the units down, until they research a certain tech.

Master of Magic had a wonderful city improvement enchantment called an Earth Gate that allowed direct movement from one city with the gate to any other city with such a gate on the same plane. It also had an Astral Gate city improvement enchantment that allowed for movement from a tile on Arcanus (one of the world maps) to Myrror (the other world map). There was also a special teleportation tile in Age of Wonders that allowed you to move from one spot on a map to another fixed position on a map, so I think it's fair to say that there are analogs out there.

there is for example, the portal the vaulters have in endless space that enables them to travel form one system to another with that portal.
