I haven't seen a mini-map in any screenshot yet. Will there be a mini map?

On a similar note, how far out (and how far in) can we zoom on the main map?

perhaps there will not be a mini map, maybe a full sized map of the world hidden away in the menu?

It would be peculiar if there weren't a mini-map. I can't think of a terrestrial 4X game that DOESN'T have a mini-map.

Haha . . . I can't exactly deny that one. They're extremely useful so I hope the Devs add one. It was okay that it was missing in ES . . . zooming out was pretty easy because the galaxy was only so large.

Well it all depends on how exactly they want to implement scouting. For all we know there could just be hand drawn maps of the surrounding terrain hidden away in a tab in the menu.

minimap will be like in Endless Space, you can zoom out easily with the mouse wheel and see the whole world

maps roughly have 3 levels: the living world, that you see in current screenshots, the map, which gives a simplified, easy to read view of the world and the world view, which focuses on empires and diplomacy.
