This is not a tribute or enslaving race that will govern. The thought of them including delvers into their army or population is nonsensical but so is their units wearing rings, lol but that in another issue.

Who said their units don't wear the rings as stomach-piercings?

I'm thinking its more of an assimilation into the overall genetic makeup of the race...in some twisted way, your races DNA gets assimilated into the necrophage and gets immortalized...a stretch i know. Some of you may remember the Borg from Star Trek, and think of the the "hero" like figures they had, Locutus and the Borg queen who retain their knowledge but gain the additional collective knowledge of the hive mind and are "reprogramed" so that they are aligned with the overall goals. In all hive mind races I've played games with they have "leader like" figures...think of them like the satellite dish for the hive mind. They just add their little "secret ingredient" to the thought waves that are transmitted to those that surround them, sort of what the local cable company does to the programming? It's still NBC or FOX or whatever...they just add their own commercials and local content, everyone on the network gets the same big picture but the locals also get what they need.

The necrophage are clearly an intelligently controlled horde. They don't just swarm around as a bunch of bugs. It's a very common trope that the bug horde has a hive mind. (Starshoop troopers, Warhammer 40k, Starcraft, etc.)

I'd favor a more natural biological enhancement or mutation (like the upgraded Zerg units in SC2:HOTS campaign). So carapace armor, bigger claws, etc.

I would think it'd be like interlocking plates, the way the hero's tail was in Pan's bid.

the thing is though, what are the necrophage soldiers going to look like once they have armour? if amplitude implements graphical armour for them, i really hope they benefit aesthetically and don't look stupid.

The masses may not think much beyond "kill, eat, repeat" but there is individual intelligence at some level in the hierarchy. Or so it seems to me, anyways.

"He who meddles" would agree.

Okay, but when you equip your hero/unit you put those trinkets on them, so that's where all sense is lost. Again, just for the sake of being complete and having each unit/faction unique. I can already see the potential of EL, and I'm very excited, but it's those minor details that tend to keep me (and I'm speaking for myself here) from getting immersed in a game. That's why I play games.

Exactly. I would think that Necrophage armor/weapons would be more organic and they wouldn't care for jewelry so much.

Explain thematically how this is included?

I am not sure this should be an option for them.

This is kind of what I was talking about. Many minor factions would refuse to have anything to do with the necrophages. They'd have to be conquered and used as food, salve labor or integrated and that's how the boost would be provided. I would think that few hardy races like the spider faction would spawn next to the necrophages.

The minor factions don't really have a choice. The Necrophages act a bit like the Mongol horde in medieval times - they conquer people and then demand tribute in form of young people. Except I'm pretty sure Mongols didn't eat their slaves smiley: kitty

Still, according to the quest I got, the Necrophages don't kill all people from minor factions, as long as they pay their tribute. It's like the minor factions pay for "protection". You know, mafia style smiley: wink

They enslave to breed & feed, bed & breakfast for zombies, in a way.

I'd consider that to be genocidal, for sure... If they just ate everything, instantaneously, they'd starve like a parasite being too aggressive and directly killing all of its hosts.

The bugs in the race description would not govern, they would genocide.

It was mentioned in Panczasu's video that the necrophage get food from camps which have been assimilated into your empire and you get less food from fields. I'm guessing this means that the races are being farmed and reared like cattle maybe? Using them for food rather than the fields. This is just a guess but i could imagine it fitting them.

Man, that is evil stuff Oo
