Very nice alpha! 2 games played, one crashed pretty badly around turn 80 with Vaulters, but is fine!!

I'm with the Wild Walkers now. I have a request from the faction quest chain:

4. Building the Future

Within your Empire, raise a City Center and a District to their lvl2.

The question is... how? Is there a tech that activate an improvement for the city?

Also, about the cities... the def bonus (i don't know how much it is, but, wow) is absurd! 1 archer destroyed 3 opponents that tryed to assault my capital and only got 3 hits, 8hp each.

Thanks!

PD: Btw i can't see my Awards from Endless Space, only Disharmony. A bug?

I believe the server is having hiccups without end, right now, so don't expect any awards to be correctly displayed for maybe a week...

Regarding your question, surrounding a city centre or district by four more districts immediately levels up the surrounded piece of the city in the middle, forcing you to "waste" one district in terms of gaining more gathering space for the city. In return, the lvl2 district or city center yields additional influence.

Welp, back to the game I go. Never knew you could level cities. Does it do nothing beyond increasing influence?

Iirc, it gives 3 industry, 3 dust and 3 science to city center also.

(I registered three ES codes over a week ago and I don't see the rewards.)

OK and the point of surronding the city is? Sometimes is better to extent the expansion district to catch more river or an anomaly. What are the benefits of the lvl2 districts? To compare and plan if it's worth it.

Only problem I see with building so many districts is unhappiness.

Well districts do lower the amount of food you receive on that particular tile, so you want to place them carefully.

That + the unhappiness are the down-sides to them.

I forgot - you get a happiness and (I think) a food bonus too - enough to make them neutral because normal boroughs have a penalty for both - and any city boroughs can be upgraded to level two(you can check the tooltip for city boroughs, all the information is there). So I can definitely see situations where terrain is mediocre and upgrading city is generally better.

Or simply better things to put in the production queue. Otherwise it can be a powerful option.

We discussed it with devs befire the Early Release, and they also aren't satisfied with the bonuses of the leveled up city. I'm fairly sure they will add more incentive to leveling up.

At start you needed to put the first 6 burrough around you center tile O_o

We lack info ingame to take the decision, that's the first issue with the expansions districts xd. The next step, maybe, is to change that and link the upgrade of districts to techs and special buildings that must be produced. Link that with bonuses to smallcity-empires vs hide(multicity)-empires like boots in happines and science, or production and dust and the sense of having large empires or smaller empire have sense.

The idea behind leveling up districts is to have an incentive to not choose always the best place, but put your burrough in a circular shape.
