Hey guys I want to start with a little back round about my current predicament and then il see if you guys can assist me in any way shape or fashion. Anyway I got in to endless space about one year ago and fell in love with it. It was the first game of its kind that I truly enjoyed playing. Unfortunately for me I wasn't very good at it (or it was just extremely hard). I kept playing and playing though and every time I would either get decimated by space pirates out of the blue or an empire would come and destroy me before I had even unlocked the research needed to speak to them. Regardless of this fact I kept playing though and although it frustrates the living crap out of me I still enjoy playing. Yesterday while on steam I saw that endless legends had just come out so I bought the complete pack and jumped right in. I absolutely love the game and am unbelievably addicted to it but unfortunately I am still met with the same issues as endless space only in a different form. In regards to Endless Legends I always get smoked by the other empires I am going against and im constantly unable to build forces fast enough because I lack the basic foundations etc to grow my empire. In addition every game I play I am constantly harassed and my forces are killed by Daemons and the ghost guys (i don't know their name by heart) both minor factions I do not provoke and have on many occasions tried to assimilate them to no avail. If you guys have any tips or tricks for me it would be greatly appreciated and also if any of you guys are having the same issues as me I would love to hear from you as well

Thanks

First: Which faction do you try to play?

As general advice, all factions but the broken lords require lots of food. Settle on rivers with woods. Try to get positive anomalies in the vicinity. Expand cities so, that each new burrough yields the maximum additional tiles to harvest (x is a district, o is no district):
x o

o x x

x o
That would be a typical expansion-style.

Try doing your main quest and researching negotiation and searching parties, early on. Go around with your first army and search through ruins for bonuses and extra-quests, pacify villages either by negotiation, or if you cannot fulfill that quest easily, by bribe or sword. Try to pacify everything at least 1 region deep around your borders. The villages spawn barbarian units that will roam and attack you, always.

For buildings, go first industry, then food, then dust and then science. Build everything, at the moment, that yields any bonus. Move your populaton around as needed between food and industry (unless you play the broken lords, then dust and industry).

Expand into regions with already pacified villages, when you can and as often as you can.

That'd be the fast and basic advice. It might be best if you had a look at the tutorials section and watched a few videos or read a few texts, though. smiley: wink

Well It does depend on the faction you play, so here is my tips from my Necro game:

* Redesign your starting units, the basic infantry you have has the perk, 'last stand', meaning as long as you win combat your unit will survive with 1 hp (Your stating hero has this too) so redesign this unit to have the claws weapon, and remove their armor, this is your cannon fodder unit. Your second unit is a flying beetle, and has impressive HP, armor this unit up as much as you can, and this unit will be your rock, and will be very hard to kill in combat.

* City management is a little tricky, and I am still figuring this out, however until you get to the second era the necros can't get their unique cannonfodder technology that makes the dust maintenance cost on your units 50% cheaper, so finding a area with lots of dust and food to settle your first city would be prudent.

* The necros get more damage fore each war you are in, but don't worry, they will come to you, so save your influence and kill everything you see.

* Your starting hero is quite the beast, equip him as you will, but always have him leading assaults, he is very tanky, very strong and can get perks to support an army, he will allow you to hold off massive assaults early on.

* The necros have a perk that allows them to generate a food stockpile for every 8 units you kill, don't forget about this, and use them to boost your citys to make up for your penalty to generating food.

* A hero supported by 4 Necro infantry all have the last stand perk, so as long as you win a combat, you will take no casualty's and will level up your forces, making your hero infantry force unstoppable in the early game, so roll around killing the neutrals and your enemy's, making food stockpiles until your citys are grown and ready to wage proper war.

* In combat, units in forests, on city tiles or on higher ground have defence benefits, and also do more damage against enemy's who are lower them them, or not in tree/city cover. Use this to bait enemy troops onto your city walls by waiting instead of charging and watch the puny enemy cavalry do 13 damage, while you return 40!

I hope this helps!
