Remember this is an alpha - the combat my improve as it grows.

Second, if there is, is it on par with Might & Magic Heroes 6 in terms of quality of animations, visuals, spells and abilities effects?

I've tried a lot of games like Endless Legend but what always horribly disappoints me is that MMH6 has such outstanding animations and deep combat system(if you didn't pirate the game so you actually have dynasty weapons) that nothing even comes close to it. You can see what I'm talking about here.

So... Hortz/PRO_TMD from Elemental? Pikosil from Fallen Enchantress and Galactic Civilizations III? sigil from Age of Wonders 3? Still looking for the post-MMH6 (previously post-King's Bounty) Holy Grail of animations?

Perhaps you should just move along? Or look at what this game *does* offer and give it a shot? Either way, saying silly stuff like this is likely to get people upset.

+1

One of the things I really like about this combat system is that the autoresolve can be very accurate to what the combat produces, meaning live multiplayer is actually a viable way to play.

I was hoping we could have both, especially considering it is all turn based so it is not that resource-heavy to produce.

And your proof that it wouldn't be resource heavy to produce?

Ah hah! So now I know who to rant and complain to about my experience with 6. Just kidding ... maybe lol

If you want a RPG-Strategy-Comabt-game which focus on RPG-elements + fights go for Heroes of Might & Magic or King's Bounty. If you want to have greater strategic options like diplomacy and multiple armies you want to have a look at Endless Legend / Space.

2) We are not trying to be anything like MMH6, it is a totally different game, combat is at the center of the gameplay of MMH6, here it is about civilization building, combat is only one of the many aspects of the game.

3) The best if you want MMH gameplay is to play their series, but if you want to try something new, well there is EL smiley: wink

And besides, the market is kinda small.

It is FAR away from combat similar to HOMM!

If fight begins & you decide to do it manually, you are allowed to do 2 things:

1. you are allowed to position your troops before the fight begins (start order) on the battlefield in your starting area

2. you are allowed to assign targets to your creatures, they will attack those targets first

3. the battle will resolve automatically, the creatures move automatically - they attack automatically

How do you compare it to MMH6, which is still the highest production values turn based strategy around?

It doesn't have that kind of depth, as EL is more about being the emperor then a commander.

Still, the actual interaction is with more broad strokes then micromanaged commands, so if you are looking for that you might be turned off.

Couldn't say about the comparison with MMH6 as I don't play it.

You have the same level of graphics with the combat as you the rest of the game, each part of your army moves separately and fights separately and the animations are very good considering it's an alpha game.

Not sure about what you mean by "strategic layer" - but there seems to be two ways of handling combat, you actually command your forces as they engage the enemy or you allow the AI to sort it out for you.

So you can actually play the combat between armies or you can skip it and take the consequences of the AI taking care of it - which I usually do if it's equal or better for me. The animations for combat, in fact the whole feel of combat is incredible, much like those for Endless space. You get an arena to fight in (that is a whole area of ground covering large section of the area controlled by a local city (or would be if there was a city near by) you can move around within that arena and withdrawn forces or press an attack. It's unlike any other combat system for this type of game that i've encounted before. loving it massively.
