I've searched the forums and apparently I'm supposed to 'click' on the resource I want to designate, but when I click (from the main screen), the only option I get is to use it as a booster. Could someone explain the exact process of how to activate the Holy Resource, in simple terms? I'm tearing my hair out trying to learn this game, which seems awesome, but frustrates me at every turn with unanswered questions. (And yes I've read the entire manual, yes I know it's a pre-release beta, but there's a lot of things to learn and it can get overwhelming.)

You have to use it as a booster. What ever you used last becomes the "holy resource".

Like prop said, going to your empire screen and selecting a strategic resource as a booster is essentially using a holy resource. It used to be you had to choose one to last you the entire play through, but that made using late game resources near impossible. Now you can switch between them every 10 turns.

There's a short-cut for activating the holy resource, as well. Rather than going through the empire screen, you should be able to just click on the resource icon in your list of your current stock below the menu button and research info.

You can also "boost" multiple luxury resources for giant bonuses which makes (imo.) Vaulters the most versatile faction.
