1.) Am I understanding this right? There can only be ONE assimilated Minor Faction at a time? That seems to be the way it works because after I've already assimilated one minor faction, the next time I assimilate another one, the first one no longer lists as being assimilated.
If this is how it works, it strikes me as quite counter-intuitive. Using the Roman Empire as an example, it was inducting different nations and tribes into the Empire all the time. After a time, the residents of those areas became full-fledged Roman citizens, just like any other natural born citizen living outside of Rome. (Roman citizens had a special citizenry niche over any other citizen living outside of Rome.) So just because some Germanic tribe became assimilated, it didn't mean the Gauls were no longer assimilated.
2.) This is a Vaulter specialty that a Custom design can use. What I am experiencing is that no sooner have I built Winter Shelters than that city can build them again... and again and again and again. What is going on? Does one Winter Shelters protect only one resident? Are they good for only one winter, after which they need to be built again? I have no clue, which makes me think that building Winter Shelters is a complete waste of time.
1. You have to research other techs to be able assimilate more than one faction (Tier 2 - Native Districts). And there are other techs further down the tiers.
2. Maybe a bug. You should only be able to build one per city. Im playing as the vaulters as the moment so I just checked and it works as it should (1 per city)
1) "...down the tiers"? I take it you mean higher numbered tiers. (II, III, IV, etc.) Any idea as to how many tiers? Or does Native Districts account for all of them? (As I believe it _should_.)
2) Well, I'm doing this with a Custom build, so that is most likely the source of the bug. Vaulters get it, but other factions don't, so the program knows to offer it, but doesn't know when to stop offering the option. Good to know that ONCE is all a city needs to do it.
assimilating can add some pretty big boosts, especially with more than one minor faction center. they spread the techs out so that as you enter each era you get to assimilate another minor faction and get the bonus. as for the winter shelters, its got to be a bug, because as vaulters, it only lets me build them once per city.
