Combat movement: Attack OR Movement? How to move and then attack?

It seems like an either/or choice: You can either aim a unit at a specific enemy unit, or you can direct a unit to move to a specific hex and then it will aim itself at some random enemy unit. (Usually the closest at that moment.) What I would like to do is 1) Direct a unit to a specific hex, AND then 2) attack a specific enemy unit once it gets to that hex.

What I have been experiencing is annoying because I try to move my ranged units to a hex that the enemy units can't reach, and then take a free ranged shot without enduring an enemy counterattack. And by directing ALL of my ranged fire at one unit, I have a better chance of killing that one unit before it gets to attack any of my units. Instead, I have to right-click on the destination hex OR right-click at the target unit. One cancels out the other. Whichever right-click is done last is what the unit will do.

What works for me is a right click and drag.

For example you want to move to hex "A" and then attack enemy on hex "B"

With your unit selected, right click and hold on hex A, move your pointer over hex B and then let go

You should see a white arrows (for the movement) and then a red arrow (for the attack)

Be sure to take initiative into account though as when your units move you can easily fill up the destination hex by accident and b0rk the whole plan....
