I have been playing Vaulters pretty exclusively lately, and I continue to have the same issue time and again in their main quest line.

After 4 or 5 stages it always asks me to conquer a city in a specific region or make sure it has been destroyed. My issue is that the region is often very very far away in a location I have no sight of. Even continents away at times. Between the massive distance and the inability to even know where to begin looking as there is no highlighted tile like with some quests, I often give up the quest line. It's just easier to finish the game than pour all my resources into a faction specific quest for little gain...and even if I do complete it, the reward for such an event has long since become useful.

I would suggest making it the closets city to your capitol by default and giving you a highlighted tile so you can at least know which direction to send some troops as opposed to flying blind, especially on larger maps.

This quest can be nearly impossible to complete without winning the game first if the city in question is on the other side of all your enemy factions amd you have to eliminate them just to get there.

You can always re-load if you don't count that as cheating smiley: smile Cities are chosen randomly each time you complete previous quest.

That is a strategy I am apt to try just so I can actually complete their story line some time. Its sad that this one quest in perticular seems to hang me up every game.

I think it adds to it. You have to find a mysterious legendary city somewhere in the world and capture it..not just march next door and take it

Privateer armies are good for exploring and unattributed massacres

And remember the final quests of the main quest will give the wonder that will let you win the game. So, it has to be hard to reach it.

If that's the final quest then sure, but when I can get to it before the second age is over and my third empire plan hits...it seems a bit obnoxious. I literally never finish it because the game is over by the time I get around to it. I have not had a lucky round where the city in question is close by...even remotely so. It is what it is, but if it's early in the quest line I think it should be a tad easier, and if not and it is close to the end then whatever. I guess it's fine.

I wish some of these quests had more alternate means of fulfilling them. Perhaps conquer city X, or stockpile and lose 10 science.

Some of the factions do seem to have much more difficult questlines. The Cultists, for one, is really really easy in my opinion. The Vaulters one is much more difficult.

As I recall, almost al questlines require you to search-and-destroy a particular region sooner or later (in cultist's case, autoraze the region's city and convert the minor factions around). It's just that the region chosen seems to be random, as long as it's controlled by another faction, so you may get a nearby region, or you will have to explore the entire map to find it.

Also, some quests also ask you to play hide-and-seek, by destroying some random (commonmly neutral) unit in a random region. This may also be an isue if the region they spawn is controlled by any non-friendly faction.
