Im curious what others use for unit compositions in their BL armies. For arguments sake only lets not include minor faction units.

With Meritocratic Promotion ive found that running 4 Stalwarts and 2 Bishops works pretty well.

I have experimented with the Ryder but I havent been to impressed with it vs melee heavy armies. Maybe Im using it wrong but it feels like they are subpar compared to the wall-of-death that is the Stalwart+Bishop combo.

The stun doesnt proc enough to be worth building your army around that unit imo. Of course vs a ranged focused army the Ryder might be more viable.

So what works for you guys? What army comps are you running vs what opponents.

I only ever play single-player, that probably flavors my findings.

Ryders are okay, they're just so unnecessary. They just act like more offensively oriented stalwarts. I've only recently started playing with them.

4-man: hero, 3 shield stalwarts, bishop.

6-man: hero, 4 claymore stalwarts, 2 bishops.

8-man: hero, 5 claymore stalwarts, 3 bishops.

That tends to give me a bishop for every two melee fighters. If the line is under control, every melee fighter can be getting heals. Against ranged-heavy, keeping all three bishops together in a triangle keeps the heals strong. Against higher initiative cavalry (initiative upgrades are a priority for my bishops), I might make a circle to limit the number of melee combatants that can reach each bishop, or I might use an open mouth, where a central bishop lures the enemy into encirclement.
