Hi. I'm playing as Vaulters, and I've gotten the quest where I've got to destroy a city and then investigate a ruin. In order to investigate the ruins, the hero needs to have at his disposal an item called "Deep Diviner."

I've gone through the hero's equipment screen with a fine comb. I've enabled obsolete items as well. Is this an item I need to get from another quest?

It's not very well described in the quest hint. I can provide a save game if that is wanted by the devs. Thanks.

It should have been a quest drop. Do you have the T1 or T2 Armors tech? I recall back in Beta being bitten by an item I couldn't equip until I had a tech...

The item in question is only available via a Quest drop. You tend to get that or the Breakwall (another item) early on if you take the search bonuses for your hero, or search bonus from the tech pool. Maybe even sometimes from running pacification quests for the minor factions via parley. There is no other way to receive it to my knowledge through straight up production or the normal tech pools. You could use the improved search tech, paired with the search bonuses on a hero, paired with the one tech that lets you search ruins a second time to try and find it. Short of using those three to increase your chances and odds, i cant think of any way to just outright GET the item.

No you actually get it from the main quest, in the previous chapter.

You got the deep diviner before you were asked to use it.

The only reason I see where you can't see it in the equipment screen is that you didn't checked missing component. It's a trinket if I remember well, not a weapon or armor.

Perhaps I am mistaken. I hope I am as it seems wierd to get a quest you don't have the means to achieve, but then again I get quests all the time that require an infantry hero when I don't have one. I suppose in that case 6 out can just buy one with enough dust though.

I was nearly certain I've seen that item on a quest given by ruins though. Oh well. Good luck.

No. I'm totally sure. You get the item in a precedent quest step of the main quest.

just a guess. but isn't it only vaulter heroes that can equip it? if you don't have a vaulter hero that might be it.

Please attach your save game and I'll take a look (and I'm sure others) and see what's going on.

FUTURE READERS: (summary)

This quest item is awarded is a trinket awarded in the previous quest step. It is made with titanium and looks like a short blue rod with a couple of hoops around it. If you cannot see it on the equipment list it is because you either need to enable obsolete and missing resources or you hero is not the appropriate faction (vaulters).

You must be in home territory to equip!

I glitched the story mission where I was suppose to get the Deep Diviner. It allowed me to continue the story but it didn't reward me with the item.
