Hello guys,

First of all, this is my first 4X game except for Civ4 which I played a little but not very deeply (and only with Julius Caesar so I could kick some asses before surrending and starting another game smiley: stickouttongue ).*

I launched a game (to era V) but it is too easy (I chose the lowest difficulty) so I can't really understand which of my choices where good or wrong, no matter what I do I still am far better than my opponents and I even have too much money and I don't know what to build appart from soldiers. I watched some tutorials too, so I'm starting to understand how the game is working, but I still have some questions. I didn't find any precise answer for the following:

1) Is there a way to share resources (science, industry, food) between cities? Maybe with trade roads and/or the technology that allows you to stock ressources (I didn't try it yet)?

2) I'm a bit confused about creating boroughs. I built like six or seven, then I couldn't build another one for many turns (on the same city I mean), then I was able to. I couldn't find the reason, is there a rule with maybe era or waiting for some turns ?

3) Still about boroughs and furthermore cities, is there an optimal time to expand? And how far, how much should I do it? Because expanding has negative consequences but I'm still too noob in this kind of games to really understand if it's better to wait like 100 turns or to rush the expansion after basic buildings in the city. I suppose it mainly depends on how you play, which race, which resources and many other parameters, though.

4) Are the races really better for a way of victory, or is it just a little advantage that would probably means nothing compared to how the game is going, what are the resources and everything?

Thank you !

*I must say that despite my weak experience on 4X, I'm totally loving Endless Legend above Civ4, for everything, for every thing that I found in this first game I launched : heroes with their skilltree and stuff, the background, the storyline, the quests, the design (totally amazing fog of war, map, artworks), the music, and everything else. Good job, I can't believe "little developers" can beat Sid Meier's speciality. Cocorico ! smiley: redface

1) Currently the only way is stockpiles. You build a stockpile at one city and then can use it on another one (industry/food). However the cost to the benefit is fairly low.

2) Every new borough level requires a population limit (2) before it can be increased. So for every two population you can make one borough.

3) The only downside to expanding is disapproval. Otherwise you should expand as fast as possible. Too much disapproval will affect your resource production. You get expansion disapproval (-10) for every new borough. However boroughs can be leveled up. Once a borough reaches level 2 it gets a (+15) modifier (so +15 - 10 = +5). A borough can reach lvl 2 by surrounding it with 4 other city boroughs. So as soon as you can expand and get boroughs to level 2 the better. (To get the most level 2 boroughs, build cities in as one big triangle).

4) I generally play conquest no matter what... so hard for me to answer.

Wow thank you for those fast answers.

1) So, it can be worth building a stockpile on a balanced city in order to create another city on a land with few food resources but big science or dust incoming, for example?

2) OK.

3) OK so as a triangle, you must sacrify some of the three hexagons that extend from the borough. I found the topic about it: /#/endless-legend/forum/9-tips-tricks/thread/3824-building-big-efficient-cities-borough-streets-leveling-districts

4) I'll do that smiley: twisted But you can't with the Cultists.

1) In theory yes. Ive generally found the cost to be too high to make it viable over other possible build options. But I suggest that you try it and see what you think.

3) Edit: That guide is good. But note that the max district lvl is 2 for all empires except for Cultists (where it is 3). Guide says differently (its older)

4) From what I understand the different types are good for various victories. But to what degree im not totally sure. Maybe someone else can comment.

I would say some are better at certain victories than others, but it's not to say that it's impossible to win those kinds of victories. Factions that have main quests that require you to go out of your way will take longer with a wonder victory (Researching 12 techs in Era 1 as the Broken Lords vs. searching ruins as the Ardent Mages). The Broken Lords however are better at producing dust than other factions since they're designed around it. Cultists can really only win through war in a serious game; one city is not enough to have a strong enough economy to win economically and those converted villages' upkeep builds up. Warfare is a path that's good for everyone no matter what, though, as well as the fastest way to win a match.
