I started playing EL today and i am a little bit confused about the resources.

i played the tutorial, but did not get it how the resources industry, food etc. work.

i see the total of resources i get each turn.

i see how much resources something cost.

but i can't find the information how much resources i have!

the tutorial said, that food for example isn't stored somewhere. but when i have a total of 20 industry, and something costs 54industry.. how does this work?

sorry for this newb question, but i really don't get it smiley: biggrin

Well, if something costs 54 Industry smiley: industry to build, and your city produces 20 Industry smiley: industry, it will take 3 turns to build it. The excess Industry smiley: industry (6) will then get added to the next thing in the production queue, or if you're not building anything else, it'll disappear.

Hello and welcome to the Forum!

When you order a building that costs 54 industry and your City produces 20 then it takes more than one turn to construct. Just imagine the industry cost as "workhours", each turn the City has 20 hours time to work on the building. It thus takes the City 3 turns to build(3 x 20 = 60). the extra 6 industry are saved towards the next Project.

Food and industry basically work the same way. building up until it reaches the threashhold for a new Population Point.

You don't have Food or industry "lieing around" like dust, it's all bound up in Population grouth and construction

hope this helps smiley: smile

got it! thank you!

i did not know that the rounds are made by the number of industry i have.

i thought the amount of rounds, something takes, is a fix value.

now everything is clear. i enjoy EL alot! smiley: smile

Note that food smiley: food and industry smiley: industry are specific to the city they are generated in and cannot be transferred to another city*.

Dust smiley: dust , science smiley: science and influence smiley: empirepoint are empire wide - all the cities generate these resources and they are used over your whole empire (e.g. using dust smiley: dust to buy out a building in a city even though that city generates very little dust smiley: dust ).

* Sort of possible using stockpiles, a technology available later in the game.
