Setting the stage...

Hey everyone,

We often get requests for some more material to dive into the Endless Universe outside of the games. Something to keep immersing oneself into the lives of heroes and villains, as a hero holding a standard or a fly on the wall... So we listened and thought real hard about vignettes that could capture the spirit of each civilization in Endless Space 2. Comics seemed a great material to convey an atmosphere, and we hope you like these. In this first installment, set on the Lumeris world of Jenes, two underfamilies vie for power the only way they know: through deception and treachery.

If this isn't drama in the making, I don't know what is..

Here are a few words from StoryEngine, who wrote the script:

In general, these short comics offer us a great means of giving much more depth to the factions than can be conveyed in game. For the Lumeris, I was fascinated by their love of the theater. The Lumeris drawing thematic influence from the Venetian Republic, this was a great occasion to draw parallels between the two universes. Being a society centered on loyalty, tradition, and the accumulation of wealth, the theater felt like a perfect place to stage a short, sharp story between two rival underfamilies. Opulence and tradition under the floodlights, dark designs behind the scenes. On the stage, a tale of love betrayed plays out, while in one of the boxes, two bosses attempt to resolve their differences. Naturally, the two strands become entwined!

Just click it.

We hope you like it, because there's more to come! If you have any questions or comments, you can shoot them in this thread at Arkel, who leads the project!

I do insist all the Lumeris should be grotesquely fat. These human-like female bodies with alien heads look quite disgusting :).

Apart from that, the comic is great!

I also think it should be explained somewhere that Lumeris import cloths from humans).

Body size in the Lumeris society has been mostly I believe an outward symbol of importance and wealth. Note in the Lumeris loading screen that many servitors seem to be frail-looking, verging on skinny. Literally "the big ones are the big fish in the pond."

Love this comic. Was a bit confused though. Who was Kaetra sleeping with during the intermission?

His lover is unnamed.

Please write more of these (an endless amount of these....). Each one is another wonderful vault of lore, and a new reason for me to nerd out once more!

I really loved this comic. Lumeris are one of the more interesting factions to me but just in generally the art is great the colour is stylistic and the writing is awesome. Can't wait for more!
